Joseph Albert "General" Heiss, 71, a long time resident of Waterford Ohio passed on in his sleep
surrounded by family on early Sunday September 24th 2022 at altwell nursing home in Newark Ohio.
he was he was born on September 22nd 1951 to Fred and rosemary (Brooker) Heiss and was the oldest
of 18 growing up on the family dairy farm in Waterford Ohio . he attended St John Vienna seminary and
graduated from Waterford high School class of 1969 . he went on to study at Ohio University and later
Washington state where he earned an associate's degree in industrial engineering class of 77.
Joe survived by 15 brothers and sisters, two children: Isaac (Mandy) Heiss of Waterford and Elizabeth
(David) McAdams of Newark; 9 grandchildren :Kade Kostelac, Blake Heiss,Jordan Farnsworth, Jansen
Bailey , Ryley Heiss, David McAdams Drake McAdams, Devin McAdams and Derek McAdams; two great
grandchildren: Garrett heiss and London Hossom. He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and
rosemary heiss and brothers Maurice Jerry and Thomas. Joe was married three times in his life to
Alethea Davis , Peggy Drake and Cindy cheesman. His career included bechtel power corporation where
he tracked pipe installation on a nuclear power plant; Raymond keizer engineers working on nuclear
power plant renovations; Burgess and Niple Incorporated estimating cost for Bridges treatment plants
and other large scale facilities and Salem ridge contractors as an aspe certified professional estimator
and other construction services. Joseph was an avid supporter and member of the sons of American
legion Post 389 Beverly Ohio where he helped many offices, district offices, and was the detachment of
Ohio Son of the year. he was also active and held offices with the fraternal order of eagles area 3665 also
in Beverly Ohio enjoyed taking pictures and videos and documenting many events for both organizations
as well as making tickets and flyers for community events. he was also instrumental key figure I many of
a Beverly bash. Joe was a self-taught computer expert way before Apple came along and was active on
Facebook . He posted on Facebook his theme once " I think about I think about everything in my time
everything that I didn't do wasn't worth doing at the time ".
for many years he fought rheumatoid arthritis crippling him little by little limited his ability to do the things
that he loved . Joseph believed whole hartedly in the benefits of cannabis and in lieu flowers the family
wishes donations be made to national organization from the form of marijuana laws and cannabis
research and education.
