work context, recognising and moving current understanding of problem-
solving in a home, education, or social situation into a work environment.
The unit covers the different types of problems learners might encounter
in the place of work, applying problem-solving techniques, and
identifying solutions.

3.2 Decide what solution represents the best option, giving one
reason why this is the case.
Generative alternative solutions is the best option, this is because your
problem may not have 1 concrete solution and may need to be
handled with great care. Specifying short and long term alternate
solutions is extra helpful as it will help minimise chances of further
problems occurring in the future.

The best option is communication. This is because it allows you to talk


through what started the problem, how you will try and find a solution
and inevitably implement the solution/fix the problem. Communicating
it out also allows for everyone to know all sides to what happened so
no one is left out or left in a disadvantage where they had nothing to do
with the problem in the first place.

What does it mean to take the novel approach to the problem?


To take a new route or to use a new technique in order to solve the
problem, this may mean using a completely new technique you’ve
thought of yourself or have thought of as a group.
