Hi Good Morning Respected Panellists, and my fellow

classmates. The topic for my Research is MENTAL STRESS AND

ANXIETY AMONG MEDICAL STUDENTS.
INTRODUCTION
Stress is the body's response to changes that necessitates either a psychological,
physiological, or physical adjustment. Medical school is known to be stressful,
and it has been seen that students experience a great deal of stress over the
course of their several years of study. Compared to the general population,
medical students are more likely to experience anxiety, burnout, and mental
illnesses, and their mental health gets worse by the time they complete their
degree.Between studies, there was a wide range in the prevalence of anxiety,
ranging from 21.9 to 66.9%. studies have shown that stress increases the risk of
anxiety and depression and, most frequently, lowers academic performance in
medical students. Numerous detrimental effects, including impacts on general
and wellness quality of life, have been linked to student stress.

LITERATURE REVIEW
from the past researches and studies it have been Medical schools all across the
world strive to develop qualified and sympathetic doctors who can treat
patients, enhance medical expertise, and enhance health of the public. The
duration and emotional connection specifically for medical students to dedicate
to their training is considerable because medical education is thought to be one
of the most scholastically and physically and psychologically demanding
training courses out of any profession
stress, alcoholism, smoking, student debts, clinical internships, interpersonal
communication skills, parental involvement, parental employment position,
financial stability of the family, social support elements, are some of the other
issues.
Some of the potential stressors may be
Vast syllabus, frequent examinations, lack of time, transition from pre clinical
to clinical phase etc. few of the above-mentioned modifiable issues can be
addressed by medical schools in order to assist medical students.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
high level of stress among medical students causes a negative effect on
cognitive functioning and learning of students.
It is a full time responsibility including academic obligations, extensive
working hours ,patient care duty and practical work assistance, extracurricular
activities, internships and also social
interactions. This training process is accompanied by negative consequences
which can result in poor quality of life, drug abuse, and
suicides
RATIONALE
More than half of students studying medicine experience anxiety, stress, and
panic. This kind of work demands extreme concentration and proficiency, there
is an increased incidence of
mental illness and exhaustion among those who will form the future core of the
healthcare system. Many students delay seeking medical help or support from
the medical school for a variety of reasons,
including a fear of facing fitness to practice proceedings.
Tackling this problem of awareness and delayed presentation will need a strong
and dedicated focus at all stages, with prevention being of great importance is
crucial to have doctors who are resilient enough to handle their future issues.
