When thinking about a start-up opportunity we first thought about the pains we were currently
going through in lockdown. In which one of collages stated their elderly uncle was finding it hard to
get fresh meat during lockdown. We then thought how we could be pain solvers and with lockdown
currently in progress we had the idea to deliver meats to the elderly. The elderly is in the most
danger due to the pandemic and along with the disabled they may find it difficult to leave their
home. We then did some research on how the disabled are currently getting their food in which
according to disability news service it was reported, The government could face legal action if it
does not reconsider its strategy on how to ensure the delivery of vital groceries and food to
disabled people (Disability News Service, 2020). We then began to think of ways to solve those
pains However, our start up had flaws such as a lack of value.

We then decided to expand our target audience and focus on the elderly and disabled along with
the addition of the middle class, upper class and athletes. We were then able to create value by
changing the way we deliver and provide safe deliveries as from personal experience, we weren’t
pleased with how deliveries were handled in the past.

7/8. Present and explain the Business Model (means to ends transformation process) and an outline
Business Model Canvas (Value Capture) (with extensions and detailing as per the taught syllabus) 2
slides.

Key Activities

1. Creating an effective technological infrastructure

2. Dealing with local market partners

3. Managing the shopper (Delivery partner) workforce

4. 24/7 Customer service

This on demand food service has become popular in the current sharing economy..

Let’s check out the following points to understand how our Business will work:

1. Customers place their meal order and pay online through online or mobile App.
2. Packing team will get notification of the order and will get the order ready to dispatch.
3. After that delivery driver will go to deliver the items to the customer’s doorstep according to the mentioned address in the
order.

Key Players in Business Model

Let’s explore the 3 tier customer strategy which will help you get better knowledge about the process .

● Users
Users can place their order through the mobile app or website. They can select their preferable meal to order , write
delivery instructions, they can pay by online, and also mention tips for the driver.
● Processing Unit
Order process team (part-time workers) will receive meal request on their computer. They collect all mentioned items
from the list and pack for the delivery driver.
● Delivery Partnership
We will make partnership with Uber Eats and Deliveroo, Will provide 1 hour slot to book, first slot will be paid however
later slots of the day will cost ½ price delivery.
● Business Model – Value Propositions
● Doing tie-ups with local stores and supermarkets
● Prefer to appointing part-time workers
● Same-day delivery process
● Huge inventory
● No shiny delivery trucks
● No warehouses
9. Business Research and Data Gathering Plan i.e. The Part B hypotheses to be
researched (see Ries Chapter 4 alchemy to science) 1 slide.

The business model has been analysed and has a focus to alleviate the workload for the
elderly and disabled in the community by removing the risks of harm while cutting meat and
vegetables. We can also provide Organic, Halal, Kosher, Vegetarian Options. There are
multiple factors that need to be added to make the idea stand out. For example using eco
friendly materials to deliver and package can be viewed as demonstrating Corporate Social
Responsibility. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, hygiene standards need to be met by all
members of staff. In regards to the legal aspect of the business we will need to acquire the
right licencing from food governing bodies to be able to operate smoothly. Once that side is
handled, the technological side of the business will need to have no flaws. An app would be
created for the customers so they can view what we have in store. The app would be simple
and easy to read with an option for a customer profile to better suit everyone's needs. With us
reading articles and through data collection we have figured out that it would help overall to
prevent them from the exposure of Covid-19.
