SERVICE FOR THE LORDS DAY August 7, 2011 ORGAN PRELUDE WORDS OF WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: The word is near to you, on your lips and in your heart. People: No one who believes in Christ will be put to shame. All: Everyone who calls on the name of the Holy God shall be saved. *HYMN #81G We Gather Together *PRAYER OF CONFESSION Merciful Lord, you are generous to all who call on you. You love without condition or distinction, inviting everyone to know you. Yet we are biased and self-serving, stingy with our affections. We pick favorites, harbor jealousies, and lash out at those who anger us. Forgive us, O God, for our smallness of heart. Assure us of your love for us and enlarge our sympathies for others, that in word and deed we may proclaim your salvation to the world. *MOMENTS FOR SILENT, PERSONAL CONFESSION *ASSURANCE OF PARDON *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Nicene Creed (insert) *GLORIA PATRI (back cover of bulletin) CHILDRENS MESSAGE SPECIAL MUSIC The Battle Hymn of the Republic

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION FIRST LESSON Romans 8:31-39 (p. 158) Genesis 8:15-22 (p. 7)

THE NICENE CREED We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in our Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin, Mary, and was made human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. he has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Pastor Julia, our adult leaders and our youth group would like to thank everyone for all of their prayer and financial support for their recent mission trip to Johnstown, NY. As you heard last weeks worship service the youth had an awesome experience and grew in their faith. We were able to share a bit of NJ with our NY friends by bringing Jersey sweet corn and salt water taffy! We gave prayer shawls to the families we helped (4 in total) and promised to remember them in prayer after our return. Plan to come out to church on Rally Day September 11th and stay for a Celebration Luncheon where you will hear more detailed stories about our trip and see a great slide show! Mark it on your calender now. Plan to bring a side dish to share. A huge thank you to our mission trip participants who were willing to serve the Lord this past week on behalf of our church: Dana Barrett and Joe Pizzuto-Pomaco, 2 amazing youth leaders and to our youth who are incredible: Tricia and Katie Barrett, Victoria Neill, Krey and Nathan Gardner and Matthew DeMaris. Thanks also to the support team Anna, John and Joshua Pizzuto-Pomaco. If this time of worship has inspired you to spend time with our youth-why not help out with youth group this year? Let Dana or Pastor Julia know if you have some time to give. We would really appreciate the help! It is never too early to start writing for the next newsletter any articles can be submitted to Jill at any time (e-mail or put it in her basket). We are hoping for an earlySeptember issue.

Camp of the Woods Trip: All are invited to join us on a camping trip to Camp of the Woods in Speculator, New York. We will be leaving from the church parking lot on August 27th and returning August 30th. There are many things to do up at camp: mini-golf, zip-line, swimming, tubing, shuffleboard, tennis, hiking, climbing wall, and lounging at the lake among so many other things. You will experience exciting worship and great Bible teaching and an opportunity to get away from it all. Let Colleen Moore (856-297-3546) know if you are interested in attending. We will be camping at a local state park so a minimal fee will be involved but there are also cabins and RV hook ups near by. Join us! Summer Reading 2011- Many of us have been intrigued by the book: Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo. At 7:30 pm on September 20th, 27th and possibly October 4th we will discuss what we thought of the book and how it challenged our faith. See Jennett Stanley (881-2683) if you are willing to open your home to this book study. All are welcome! Salem County Fair: We are looking for volunteers to run the booth on Aug. 10, 11, 12. Two or three hour time slots would be appreciated. To volunteer you can call Dana (609364-7480) or sign up in the narthex. Thank you in advance! We want to reach out to our community with Jesus love, please help us in this outreach effort. You can also donate candy to give away or easy craft projects for the Fair.

The Missions of the Month for August are Ranch Hope and Meals on Wheels. Please keep these ministries in your prayers. Ranch Hope provides a Christian-based learning environment for over 75 boys and girls each year. To help support this mission, please donate school supplies for which there is an ongoing need. Much needed items include composition notebooks, one subject spiral notebooks, ink pens, pencils, washable markers, and white construction paper. Please place these items in the box located in the narthex. Thank you! Meals on Wheels is a ministry of Salem County that provides meals for those people in our community who would need a healthy, hot meal once or twice a day. The elderly, terminally ill or homebound are recipients of these blessings. We have had many people in our church over the years who were on delivery teams to take these meals into homes. It involves more than just dropping a meal off but often includes the building of personal relationships with the recipients. Join us for a prayer time every Sunday morning in the youth lounge before church at 9:20am. There are now 12 assisted listening devices available for people to better hear the worship service. They are located in a basket in the narthex. Please return the devices to the basket at the conclusion of worship. CD copies of our worship service are available every Sunday in the narthex. Check out our website for the weekly Bulletin and Insert.

A big Thank You to Harold Ware for playing the organ the month of August! His time and talents are greatly appreciated!

The rosebud at the front of the church this morning is in honor of the birth of Matthew Nicholas Tindall, son of Rob and Jeanine Tindall. Matthew was born on July 10 and is the little brother of Benjamin. Brian Hanst from Upper Pittsgrove is working on his Eagle project in order to become an Eagle Scout. He is going to repaint our parking lot lines, arrows and handicap signs. He will also be installing two park benches under the trees by the cemetery. If anyone would like to donate funds specifically towards the cost of a bench or two please contact Steve Quirk. The project will be completed by the end of August. Thank you Trustees The Oasis Kitchen in Salem is grateful for our donations of fresh vegetables. They have been feeding about 200 people 3 times a week. At the moment they have enough food, but could use donations of liquid dish soap and bleach. The Soup Kitchen at St. Theresa's in Bridgeton greatly appreciated all the fresh vegetables from our garden. When asked if they had any needs, they mentioned that they would love to have some lettuce to serve with the tomatoes and other vegetables. We received a very nice thank you note from Mark, Arlene and Seth Newell. If you would like to read it, it is on the missions bulletin board outside of the upstairs lounge.
