This document is a daily lesson plan from the Schools Division Office of Camarines Norte, Philippines. The lesson plan aims to teach students about point of view (POV) in fiction writing. It includes objectives, content, learning resources, and procedures. The procedures involve reviewing the previous lesson on characterization, presenting examples of different POVs, and discussing the four main types of POV - first person, second person, third person limited, and third person omniscient. The goal is for students to understand POV as the lens through which the author shows the story from a particular angle, and be able to identify the narrator's position in examples.

Questions to be asked:
1. Do you know what’s in the picture?
2. Do you know its purpose?

Tell the students that, “The POV is similar to a lens. Through a lens, the
author provides its readers to see the story in a particular view or angle.
POV can be presented in many ways and each way has its problems,
responsibilities and effects.”

Recall the definition of Point of View (POV)

- It comes from the Latin word “punctum visus” which literally
means “point sight,” suggesting it’s where you point your sight.
- the narrator’s position in the description of events.

Statements will be given to students for them to analyze the narrator’s

position in the events.

ablaze with fire.

3. Tim was mad at Jane. He blamed her. Jane knew Tim would be
mad but she wanted to live her life.

Questions to be asked:
 What type of POV is used on the situations?
 How did you arrive with your answer?
DISCUSSION OF TYPES OF POINT OF VIEW (POV)

Four Types of Point of View (POV)

1st Person POV – First person is when “I” am telling the story. The
character is “in” the story, relating his or her experiences directly.

2nd Person POV – The story is told to “you.” This POV is rare and provides
D.Discussing new concepts and a different form of intimacy. The author gives the reader a certain level of
practicing new skills #1 experience to be one of the characters in the story. The 2nd person is
mostly used when a loved one is addressed directly in romantic poetry.

3rd Person POV, Limited – The story is about “he”or “she.” This is the
most common POV in fiction. The narrator is outside of the story and
relating the experiences of a character.

3rd Person POV, Omniscient - The story is about “he”or “she,” but the

the story.

differentiate. PowerPoint will be used for the discussion.)

1. The birds were chirping and the sun was shining. Kevin and Juno
were sitting on a park bench together. Neither of them was
smiling. After a long period of silence, Kevin said, “This isn’t going
to work. I mean, you’re a dog person and I’m a cat person.” Juno
nodded. Kevin went on, “If we get married and buy a house, what

bother me. The sound of my feet hitting the street formed a

nothing other than the next step and keeping my tempo. I soared

3. Jeremiah squinted from the sun. He was thinking about the game.
They could have won. He could have won the game for them. All
he needed to do was catch the ball, but he didn’t. He dropped it.
His coach talked to him. “Jeremiah, we had a great season.
Nobody’s perfect. Look at me. Ha ha,” he said. Jeremiah smiled at
the coach, but he couldn’t forgive himself so easily.

drummer. He set a stately pace and tapped the accompanying
rhythm. A marching band followed behind him, matching his
pace. Behind the band were floats of all sizes and designs.
Children and adults were riding on the floats, tossing out penny
candies, streamers and plastic prizes. The street was lined with
people. The noises of revelry filled the streets.

5. “You already told me that story,” said Shanice. She looked
genuinely disappointed. I laughed awkwardly. “Sorry,” I said, “I
didn’t mean to bore you with a rerun.” I tried to laugh it off but
she just wouldn’t let it go. “Don’t you even consider your listener
before you tell a story?” she inquired acerbically. This caught me
off guard. I replied, “I’m just trying to keep you entertained,
Shanice.” I pleaded. She smacked me down with another sharp
comment, “Yeah, well, you should try harder.”
