Figure 1 represents the work stations used to do the checks.

E.3. Except where otherwise specified on Work Cards, the check operations described are to be
carried out visually (e.g. condition of a part) or "by feel" (e.g. no play).

NOTE
Installation of the MGB access platform 365A95-0800-00 POST MOD 0753B49 is
incompatible with the fixed parts of the optional search lights, SPECTROLAB SX16 and FLIR.

F. Procedure

F.1. Definition of Terms.

Certain terms which appear frequently in the cards are defined below to prevent possible
misinterpretation.

a. Condition.
Permanent instruction concerning condition:

(1) All surface, protection or paint defects on the helicopter assemblies must be
examined and processed without delay in accordance with the applicable instructions
(criteria, followed by rework).

(2) The visual inspection covers the general external appearance of the item, distorsion,
breakage, cracks, scratches, corrosion, signs of overheating, wear, etc., modifying the
condition of the item.
PERMANENT INSTRUCTION CONCERNING THE CONDITION: On all helicopter
parts, defects to the surface, the protection or the paint must be examined and treated
without delay in accordance with the applicable instructions (criteria and
reconditionning).

(3) Attachment points.

The visual inspection covers the attachment points of the item and the condition of
safetying.
It may include a "tactile" examination, i.e. a manual force applied to the item to detect
a possible assembly defect.
Printed from ORION AS365 Rev.008.00 (Update 04) MET 05-21-00-301 (2022- Printed by z00000089265 on 2023-01-08
03-28) N1,N2,N3
(4) Locking.
Lock the item and/or ensure the locking is correct.
To check the locking, close and check the correct position of the cowlings, fairings,
doors, hatches, panels, caps etc. Check the alignment of the external profile. Engage
the closing and locking systems of all locks, handles, Dzeus and Camloc fasteners,
etc. Check that their closed-cloked position is correct, with the safety system in
position (marking, witness marks aligned).

THE DOCUMENT REFERENCE IS AVAILABLE ONLINE. PLEASE CHECK IF THE ONLINE DOCUMENTATION CORRESPONDS TO THE PRINTED VERSION
For the cowlings, by acting in the opening direction, check that locking is positive.

(5) Sealing.
The visual inspection is intended to detect any seepage or leakage of fluids.
Particular attention should be applied to: drain holes, couplings, mating surfaces and
the actuating rods of hydraulic servocontrols.

(6) Absence of abnormal play.

Unless specified otherwise, there is no requirement to measure play: but any
"abnormal" play may, in certain circumstances be detected by applying a manual
force to the item to be checked.

(7) Cleanliness.
Cleanliness is intended to signify: absence of foreign body, seepage or splasing of
liquids, "soiled" zone which may mask a visual defect.

(8) Pipes.
The inspection of pipes consists in checking their condition (wear due to friction, tears
etc.) and in particular of the crimping of the end-fittings at the couplings as well as the
routeing through support cleats.

(9) Sliding door rails.

When going onto engine deck or transmission deck do not step on sliding door upper
rails. Only walk in areas covered with anti-slip coating.

b. General instructions for the daily checks.

(1) Structure.
During the inspection circuit, check in general the condition of the skins, the structure,
the canopy (cleanliness of the transparent panels), hatches and opening panels and
their attachment points, as well as those of the pilot, copilot and passenger seats, and
of the equipment.

(2) Doors.
For each door: general condition, operation, correct closure, absence of abnormal
play, in particular at the hinges. Condition of the attachment or locking brackets,
Printed from ORION AS365 Rev.008.00 (Update 04) MET 05-21-00-301 (2022- Printed by z00000089265 on 2023-01-08
closing pins and locking systems rails and rollers, stops.
03-28) N1,N2,N3
If fitted, check the correct operation of the door indicating system.

(3) Cowlings.
For each cowling: as it is opened and during inspection of the compartment, perform
a detailed visual inspection of the condition of the skin, the structure, the attachment
points, the fastening of the rails, free operation.

THE DOCUMENT REFERENCE IS AVAILABLE ONLINE. PLEASE CHECK IF THE ONLINE DOCUMENTATION CORRESPONDS TO THE PRINTED VERSION
Operate the locking hooks to check:

(a) the appearance and play at the locking hooks,

(b) freedom from play in the handles.

(4) Transmission and engine decks, bottom structure side fairings, luggage
compartments.
For each inspection station:

(a) general condition and attachment of the items and equipment in the station,

(b) presence and condition of safetying devices or safety pins,

(c) absence of interference, compliance with clearances and gaps between items
(air or fluid lines, electric looms, flight controls, helicopter structure),

(d) absence of leaks or seepage from couplings and pipes,

(e) absence of any signs of abnormal overheating.

(5) Electrical circuit.

Inspect the condition and attachment points of the visible parts of the electric looms,
components, leads, connectors, bonding braids, wiring, principally at the bulkhead or
deck feed-throughs, antennas, navigation lights, landing light, electrostatic discharge
wicks and other equipment (starter-generator, alternator, master box, battery).

(6) Fire-extinguishing circuit: condition and attachment of fire-extinguisher bottles,

correct pressure.

c. Permanent instructions.

(1) In the event of a fault observed or in the event of doubt during the helicopter checks,
refer to the various Work Cards associated with the ATA chapters concerned.
Printed from ORION AS365 Rev.008.00 (Update 04) MET 05-21-00-301 (2022- Printed by z00000089265 on 2023-01-08
03-28) N1,N2,N3
(2) Engine oil level.

(a) Check the oil level within 15 minutes of shutting down the engine.
In the event that it is not possible to check the engine oil level in accordance
with the above criterion, perform a ground run of about 5 minutes in accordance
with the Flight Manual (PMV). Top up the oil level to the "max." level if

THE DOCUMENT REFERENCE IS AVAILABLE ONLINE. PLEASE CHECK IF THE ONLINE DOCUMENTATION CORRESPONDS TO THE PRINTED VERSION
necessary, and record the quantity of oil added in order to determine the oil
consumption. This should not exceed:
0.3 l/h (.079 USG/h) for ARRIEL 1 engines,
0.2 l/h (.053 USG/h) for ARRIEL 2 engines.

(3) Free rotation of the engine rotor shaft: without noise.

CAUTION
IF THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED, REFER TO
(MEM).

NOTE
Any noise of contact or continuous friction observed during the checks described
below, must result in an investigation into the cause of such defects.

(a) Engines not incorporating modification TU 197 or 202 (ARRIEL 1C1 and 1C2
Engine).

1 check free rotation of the compressor when T4 < 150°C (302°F), i.e. 30
min after shut-down of the engine.

(b) Engines incorporating modification TU 197.

1 check the free rotation of the compressor during shut-down of the engine
or at the end of a 5-second air crank.
When T4 < 150°C (302°F), i.e. 30 min after shut-down of the engine,
perform a 5-second air crack and check free rotation of the compressor
as it runs down.

(4) Oil level in the gearboxes.

(a) Inspect the condition and the cleanliness of the oil level sight glasses.

(5) Operation of engine/MGB cowlings.

(a) It is recommended to open/close the cowlings gently. Accompany the cowlings

and do not let them drop under their own weight.
In strong winds, accompany the cowlings throughout their travel.

THE DOCUMENT REFERENCE IS AVAILABLE ONLINE. PLEASE CHECK IF THE ONLINE DOCUMENTATION CORRESPONDS TO THE PRINTED VERSION
(6) Precautions on the ground in strong winds.

(a) When the wind speed is in excess of 30 knots, do not move the helicopter
without tying down the main rotor blades.
Point the helicopter into wind, plus or minus 45°.
When the helicopter is parked, install the moorings.

(7) Purging.

(a) It is recommended to purge the fuel tanks every day and before moving the
helicopter. Do not undertake this operation if the OAT is < 0°C (32°F).

(8) In the event of detecting a fault or experiencing any doubt whilst inspecting the
engine, refer to the engine manuals for the actions to take.

(9) For the inspection of the optional installations ( MET 05-21-00-604 ) and ( MET 05-

MANDATORILY BE PERFORMED AFTER REMOVAL OF INTERMEDIATE PLATE
( MET 64-21-00-402 ) OR ( MET 64-21-01-402 ) OR REMOVAL OF ROD LOCATED
UPSTREAM OF REAR YAW BELLCRANK ( MET 67-00-00-301 ).

Before all pressurizing which must be slow and gradual, check that all control rods are
correctly connected and that no rigging or immobilizing tools are installed.

c. Bleeding.
To be carried out before every helicopter displacement.
When bleeding by cold weather ( MET 05-21-00-605 ).

d. Battery.
It is recommended to disconnect the helicopter battery after the last flight of the day so as to
ensure an optimum battery charge level for the next flight. This is particularly applicable for
helicopters fitted with the HUMS, SSCVFDR, transponder or emergency floatation gear with
immersion sensor options.
For helicopters fitted with the SSCVFDR system, disconnecting the battery or tripping the
circuit breaker BATT on the 5 ALPHA panel stops the recording of flight data and,
consequently, the clearing of older data when the helicopter is grounded.
