WHAT IS A CLOZE ?
A cloze, or known as cloze test, is an exercise or test which consists of a comprehension of
text where elements or a portion of language have been removed. Then, a candidate is
required to replace the missing language item.

TYPES OF LEXICO : WHAT IS LEXICO-GRAMMATICAL KNOWLEDGE?


Lexico-grammar is a term used in linguistic where lexis (vocabulary) and grammar (syntax) are
combined into one. At this level, words and grammatical structures are mutually dependent
to each other.

Adverbs An adverb is a word that describes a verb. It is a word used to give
information about a verb, adjective or adverb.

idea, quality or state (truth, safety, happiness)
Relative Clauses A relative clause is one that’s connected to the main clause by a word such
as who, whom, which, that or whose.
Verbs (Vocabulary) A verb is a word describes what a person or thing does or what happens.
It explains an action (run), an event (rain), a situation (be, seem) and a
change (become, develop)
Conjunctions A conjunction or a connective, is a word such as : and, because, but, for, if,
until, or, and when used to connect sentences, phrases or clauses.
Determiners A determiner is a word that introduces a noun. Examples are : a/an/the,
very, this, that, those, these, many, much etc.
Exclamations or An exclamation is a word or phrase that expresses strong emotion and
Interjections feelings. Example is “How wonderful!”
Prepositions A preposition is a word used in front of a noun or pronoun to show
relationship with other words in a sentence. Example are : under, between,
over, on, at, after, before, by, without, because of, next to, on top and in.
Phrasal Verb A phrasal verb is a combination of two words (verb + preposition) and it
brings another meaning when they are combined. Example are : put off,
call in, put out, jump over, etc
Pronouns A pronoun is used to replace a noun that has already been mentioned or
already known. Examples are : I, you, we, they, he, she, it, them, me and
ourselves.
