EXPERIENCE

Sea Experience:-
Since leaving Sri Lanka Navy, have served on board more than 20 merchant vessels,
in different capacities. Vessels types include container carriers, off shore supply vessels,
Tankers, General cargo vessels mostly being bulk carriers. The CDC copies are forwarded
for detailed description of sea service.

SKILLS

1. Joined Sri Lanka Navy in 1979 as an Officer Cadet, and left Navy in 1979 as a Lieutenant.

2. I have worked on board Ocean Going Supply Vessels in Persian Gulf area, and have
experience of maneuvering of off shore supply vessels and anchor handling vessels. My
experience in supply vessels in Gulf as follows.

Maintenance Vessel

Nico Jumeira was a off shore supply vessel, with 4 point mooring system and anchoe
handling. The service certificates of those off shore vessels are attached with.

3. I have worked as a Tug Master of Sri Lanka Ports Authority Tugs in Colombo Harbour For
one and half year. I am capable of handling any modern harbor Tugs.

4. My sea experience from Year 1986 to 2008 on board different types of ships, mostly cape
sized bulk carriers, includes 10 months service on board M/T New Ark, which was a 25000
DWT product tanker.

5. All Bulk Carriers I have served, are cape sized bulk carriers, which had DWT of
approximately 175,000 MT.

7. Starting from 02nd May 2008, I have started working as a Pilot/Mooring Master for Crude and
petroleum product tankers berthing at S.P.B.M’s off Colombo Port, as an employee of Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation. This includes berthing of Tankers to SPBM unassisted by tugs,
connecting/disconnecting cargo hoses, supervising cargo operation; stay on board responsible for
safety of ship through out vessel’s stay at SPBM, and disconnecting the vessel from SPBM. In
average 7 to 8 vessels berth at PBM per month, making stay on board in average 15 days a
month.

Terminal capacities where he involved in piloting and products handled are as follows.
1. SPBM 1 Crude Oil Buoy. -Tankers up to 180,000 MT DWT (All type of
Crude Oil)
2. SPBM 2 Finished Products Buoy -Tankers up to 60,000 MT DWT (Gas oil, Gasoline,
Jet-A1)
Description of Duties and responsibilities are as follows.
1. Performing piloting, berthing and unberthing tankers at SPBM 1 and SPBM 2, as per
company marine procedures and safety requirements.
2. Cooperate and coordinate with ship’s staff to ensure safe and efficient operation.
3. Responsible for stationed tug, issuing orders during mooring, unmooring and use of same
for the best of safety of tanker during vessel’s stay at SPBM.
4. Carrying out risk assessment, evaluate vessel’s performances and provide feedback to the
organization.
5. Act as Coordinator between ship to shore communication in cases of safety, security, and
marine pollution prevention activity or in cases required.

8. Retired from the CPSTL mooring Master service on 4th Sept 2020, at 60 years of age.

9. I have being working as a part time lecturer at Colombo Nautical and Engineering Maritime
Campus at Malabe (CINEC), and officers training institute of Mercantile Shipping Limited at
Galle, delivering lectures for officers, cadets and ratings in both colleges on different subjects.

10. Completed the training course of “Training of Trainers and Assessors” conducted by
Mahapola Training Institute in Feb 2021

11. I am a Sri Lanka Chamber Of Commerce certified marine surveyor for Panels:
