Learning Standard:
6.1.2 Solve the number sentences involving addition up to three measurements involving metre and centimetre.

Prior Knowledge:
(A1) Recognise by observing the graduations on a ruler and/or measuring tape.
(A2) Compare and contrast the appropriate measurement of an object.
(A3) Pupils are able to apply and use the measurement unit in daily life.
Learning objectives:
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to;
1) (A1) Add involving metres and centimetre without regrouping.
2) (A2) Add involving metres and centimetre with regrouping.
3) (A3) Add involving metres and centimetre with regrouping and convert to m or cm.
Success Criteria: Pupils able to;
1) Solve at least 4 out of 5 addition questions involving metres and centimetre without regrouping correctly. DIFFERENTIAT

2. Pupils recall previous lessons in addition of length: Find the


distance from the horse stable to the giraffe enclosure.
*Teacher reminds the pupils to add units of length according to
the right sequence.
Development: Introduce the way to solve the number sentences involving addition up
to three measurements involving metres and centimetre in vertical
form.
Activity 1
(15 minutes) Teacher demonstrates how to write the number sentences in vertical
form and emphasizes how to arrange the number according to the place
value. Then, adding the digit starts from the place value of ones, tens,
hundreds and so on. Remind pupils to write down the unit involved.
