I. INTRODUCTION
Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP) is a Cisco proprietary protocol that allows
two or more routers to collaborate to represent a single IP address for a specific
network. Both HSRP and the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) are
high-availability network services that allow for virtually rapid failover to a
secondary interface when the original interface becomes unavailable. Routing is
essential in the movement of data from source to destination, which occurs at the
network layer of the OSI model. It is split into two parts: static routing and
dynamic routing. The transfer of data in static routing is done manually, but in
dynamic routing, it is done via various routing protocols. In this research, a
literature review was conducted to analyze several routing protocols and their
benefits, such as the Routing Information Protocol (RIP), Enhanced Interior
Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), and Rapid
Spanning Tree protocols. In addition, the outlines of various networks such as
MPLS, MPLS TP, and SDN DWDM have been discussed. For the time being,
computer networks allow us to connect and engage in real-time. We now use
networks to their full capacity to use a wide range of applications such as web
applications, video conferences, e-commerce applications, IP protocol telephones,
conference calls, education process development, media access applications, online
newspaper applications, and so on[3]. Routing protocols should be carefully
developed and dimensioned for each network type. They are employed based on

segments reduced the overall energy consumption of the network. The evolution

users can share caches, can reduce the energy consumed for content delivery. In
addition to this, a method was proposed to enhance OSPF system survivability to
Link State Advertisement (LSA) falsification attacks by implementing
redundant routing. The main motive of this proposal was to maintain host-to-host
connectivity in the presence of an LSA attack. To validate the feasibility of the
proposed framework, a testbed was set up using a multi-protocol label switching
transport profile (MPLS-TP).
A study has shown that a novel flow control mechanism called Priority-based Flow
Control (PFC) can provide dynamic and lossless traffic control for SDN switches.
PFC was able to successfully prevent transmission disruption and packet loss
events caused by traffic path changes. It also reduced fault recovery time by
approximately 27 ms, while reducing the traffic load on the controller by several
orders of magnitude.
Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP) is a Cisco proprietary protocol that allows
two or more routers to collaborate to represent a single IP address for a specific
network. Both HSRP and the Virtual Route Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) are
high-availability network services that allow for virtually rapid failover to a
secondary interface when the original interface becomes unavailable. Routing
protocols should be carefully developed and dimensioned for each network type.
They are employed based on the network administrator's preferences. The
advantage of routing protocols is that they converge extremely rapidly even when
the primary route vanishes, implying that these protocols are self-adaptive to this
network, three routers with various areas and hostnames are being considered.

Router 2, and BR R2 has been assigned to Router 3. Branch 1 switch has one
engineer with PC, Eng1 assigned to it. Each network component requires a 32-bit
IP address in order to connect with other devices.
In this paper, we implement a virtual network model using the Cisco packet tracer,
which is a tool that traces the path of packets across a network and can be used to
work with any number of different networks. Routing is used to trace the path for

the network and in this paper, we show how this could be done over a variety of
different types of networks via a single route.
To test host connectivity, the ping command sends an echo request packet to an
address and then waits for a response. The ping is successful if and only if the echo
request reaches the target, and the destination can receive an echo response from
the source within a predetermined time period known as a timeout. Topology
simulation is also possible in packet tracer, where it can simulate and analyze send
and receive packets from hosts, as well as show the total travel time of packets
from the host to host.
VI. CONCLUSION
Routing is used to trace the path for the network. There are different types of
routing techniques but due to the usage and area of necessity, we use the OSPF. Its
main use is that it has unlimited hop count and irrespective of other techniques, it
uses a concept of area to ease management. The purpose of this paper is to
investigate the organization, content, and overall educational efficiency of practical
laboratory implementations. HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) is a redundancy
protocol for configuring a fault-tolerant default gateway in a LAN environment.
This is a Cisco proprietary protocol. It also aims to present the development of a
virtual laboratory model that addresses some of the limitations of current solutions
by providing a high-realistic virtualization environment. In the future, the entire
work will be extended to real devices with other security protocol implementations
such as routing security, routing information encryption, and dynamic NAT. We
would also like to perform this in an IPv6 network.
