Ido Akov expresses interest in joining the ULYSSES ensemble for several reasons:
1) His career as a contemporary music pianist has been solely within Israel and he wishes to perform new music outside of Israel with other young, like-minded players.
2) He is interested to see how renowned ensembles like Intercontemporain and Divertimento work on and rehearse new music by experiencing it firsthand.
3) He enjoys working with young composers towards premiering their works and looks forward to working with the composers involved in the project.

I would be very interested in joining the ULYSSES ensemble for a few
reasons. First- my career as a contemporary music pianist in the past few years has taken place solely within Israel- my native country. By playing with ensembles such as the Israel Contemporary Players and Meitar ensemble- I’ve gotten the chance to work with some world-renowned conductors in the contemporary music scene- including Zsolt Nagy, Ilan Volkov, Léo Warynski, Daniel Kawka, Ed Spanjaard, Andrea Pestalozza and more. Through these conductors I’ve had a glimpse of how one can dedicate oneself to making new music seriously, and this has instilled in me the wish to perform new music outside of Israel as well, with other young, like-minded players. I am also highly interested to see how such world-renowned ensembles as Intercontemporain and Divertimento work on new music, and approach the rehearsing of a new piece. This project would thus also be a wonderful opportunity to experience this approach first hand- by working with musicians from the two ensembles. In general- I really enjoy working with young composers towards the premiering of their works. From my experience- this is an essential part in the creation of a new work, and this dialogue is one which I find most rewarding. Then- working with composers Daniele Ghisi and Mikel Urquiza on their pieces is something which I am also looking forward to. Next- I have many composer colleagues who have taken part in masterclasses with Divertimento, or in the Fondation Royamount and Manifeste, and have described these as seminal, important experiences for their career. I am curious to experience some of the happenings and the environments of these festivals, by performing in them. Finally- seeing the repertoire which will be played in the project- I have highly enjoyed playing works by Enno Poppe before ( I played quite recently in Scherben and Salz with the Israel Contemporary Players), and of the other composers whose works will be performed I admire the works of both Alex Mincek and Hugues Dufourt. For these reasons I would be overjoyed to participate in the project as a pianist.
