1. CONTROL PANELS
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this manual is to instruct the user in the operation of
the Ovation Select control panels and other components used in the
aircraft cabin management systems. The button legends or menu
options are self-explanatory for most of the controls found on any
panel of the cabin management system.
There are four types of control panels in the cabin management
system:
• Passenger Control Units (PCUs)
• Switch panels
• Handheld remotes
• Ovation Select Touchscreen (OST) controllers
Other Components:
• Auxiliary panels
• Blu-ray disc players
• Widescreen monitors
DESCRIPTION
PCUs come in two versions: Select 100 and Select 200. The Select
100 is 1/2 the size of the Select 200 but provides all of the same
functions in a more compact size.
Either of the Select 100 or the Select 200 PCUs can control the
entire Ovation Select system through the use of their touchscreens.
Note: Each PCU is configured with the applicable control
functions/screens based on its location in the aircraft.
The touch-sensitive screens let the user display and activate various
control options for the associated equipment by touching the screen.
*** CAUTION ***
Use only a finger or soft, dull instrument to push the touchscreen.
Do not use sharp objects (such as a pen or stylus like those used
with electronic organizers) to push the touchscreen as this can
cause damage and make the warranty not applicable.
OPERATION
The Select 100 PCU has a 4 in. by 1 in. display area. The Select 200
PCU has a 4 in. by 2 in. display area. The PCUs can control all
environmental, entertainment and business components from a
single intuitive interface.
A typical Ovation Select 100 PCU is shown in Figure 2-1 . X X

9. JETMAP HD
INTRODUCTION
JETMAP HD allows passengers to continuously monitor the
progress of their flight with high definition, worldwide terrain maps
combined with the U.S. national highway/street database for viewing
detailed street-level data on the aircraft entertainment video system.
JetMap HD also has modes which allow viewing of flight parameters
such as time to destination, present position, etc., along with other
information as a means of keeping passengers up to date on the
progress of the flight.
The system provides quick and accurate tracking of flight path, time
to destination, altitude, speed, heading, and more. Passenger
interaction includes simple panning across the entire globe
regardless of aircraft position and quick navigation through zoom
levels. Additional features include sun maps that show areas of
sunlight and darkness across the globe, a Relative Location Indicator
(RLI) that shows nearby cities and points of interest, and a night
graphics setting for darkened cabins.
• Map Mode

font size for all three information pages will be the same.
Fewer lines selected will result in larger font sizes.
• Line 9: Same as Info Page 1 – Changes all values on Info
Page 3 to instantly change to what has already been set for
Info Page 1. This is useful for only displaying what would
appear to be only two information pages. Keep in mind that
the display timing for page 1 and 3 would be additive in this
case and it may be desirable to adjust the timing.
• Line 10: Same as Info Page 2 – Refer to the paragraph
above. The same is true but Info Page 3 becomes the same
as Info Page 2 and the display time for the two identical
pages are the sum of the two.
• FMS – This heading information displays the FMS that has
been selected on the System Settings 2 Configuration Page.
Special calculations are done on each of the ARINC flight
data words according to FMS. This setting must be correct
or the data elements will not display properly.
• Avail – This column will display the known status of a
particular data element for a particular FMS. For example,
N/A means that this data element requires aircraft data that
is either not transmitted by this FMS or is not reliable to use
for displaying data on the JetMap HD.
The Home Base Set Controls page allows the user to set the
exact location of the four Home Bases.
All of the cursor movement commands for the Map Navigation
Controls have the same cursor movement function in the Home
Base Set Map screen.
To set a Home Base:
1. Make sure the Home Base Select Map is displayed. If
unsure how to display this map, see the Home Base Select
Icon description in the Configuration Controls section.
2. Zoom in/out and pan to the location of the city you would like
to select using the map navigation controls.
3. Make sure that the city name appears in the lower left corner
just above its LAT/LON. This may require zooming and/or
panning to locate the exact desired location.
Menu Settings
Use the LEFT/RIGHT Configuration Control to scroll through the
possible settings on this page. When the desired setting is shown,
scroll down to the next item.
• Connection Enable – Selecting this setting turns off the
Content functionality. Content related icons include any
icons labeled as News, Wx, Sports, Biz, or Reader.
Selecting this setting enables the Content to be turned on for
use with the many sources available to the JetMap HD.
Except for demonstration (demo) purposes, this requires a
subscription. Refer to the Media Interface Unit (MIU)
Installation Manual PN 762-5164-001 for details.
The Connection Enable submenu has the 5 options that
follow:
1. Ethernet – Selecting this setting enables JetMap
HD to use a High Speed Data Satcom Ethernet
connection, if available on the aircraft. This allows
JetMap HD to access the Content ground station
through the Internet. A subscription is required with
this or any connection method. Refer to the Media
Interface Unit (MIU) Installation Manual PN 762-
5164-001 for details.
2. ICG – Utilizes an external Iridium based
International Communications Group (ICG)
