King Midas was known for his kindness and charity. When he found a drunken teacher named Silenus sleeping in his garden, he welcomed him instead of punishing him. As a reward for Midas' kindness, Dionysus granted him a wish. Midas wished for the ability to turn anything he touched into gold, but he soon realized this was a curse as it made everything around him, including his food and daughter, unusable gold. He begged Dionysus to take back the wish, and Dionysus did so, allowing Midas to live a grateful life focused on what truly mattered.

King Midas was known as one of the most charitable, caring, fair men of his time.
One afternoon an old
man, a wise and famous teacher, named Silenus was found sleeping in king Midas’ garden. His guards carried the Silenus to king Midas. While other kings would have been upset over a drunken man sleeping in their garden, King Midas warmly welcomed him in. Silenus in return entertained King Midas and his court with his stories. God Dionysus granted one wish to King Midas for his kind acts. The King wished that everything that Midas touched into gold. Although this seemed like a creative wish to ask for, everything around him soon becomes unusable. When he picks the rock from the ground, the rock turned to gold. His food, water, bed, and even daughter all tragically turned into gold. King Midas finally came to the realization that his whole kingdom would turn into gold if he did not retract his wish soon. He begged Dionysus to withdraw his wish. Because of King Midas’ good intentions and sorrow, Dionysus got rid of the wish that became a curse. Afterwards he was immensely poorer than before, but he realized the true important aspects of life. He went on to live an incredible life full of care, compassion, and gratitude for all the parts that were truly valuable.
