RecordTV from Brazil in association with Means of Production from Vancouver will be filming exterior scenes for their TV mini-series King David c. 1000 BC, David from the Old Testament who slew Goliath in Ashcroft, Cache Creek and Kamloops. The production company is looking for extras to work as background in various scenes during filming in September & October. They are asking for Mediterraneanlooking people of dark hair, dark skin, all ages and sexes to play townsfolk and soldiers. They're also looking for men with dark beards or who would be willing to grow one. The ability to ride a horse is a benefit for those applying as soldiers. Today, BC Hydro, the Okanagan Nation Alliance, the Upper Nicola Band and the Province of BC will sign an agreement related to the construction of the Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission project, the construction of a new 500 kilovolt transmission line from the Nicola substation near the Upper Nicola Bands campground at Glimpse Lake, to the substation in Coquitlam. Its billed as an historic agreement, and it might well be, given the initial chasm between First Nations groups & BC Hydro including a lawsuit & a very public denunciation. But today, the Chiefs of the Okanagan Nation Alliance, Union of BC Indian Chiefs, Upper Nicola Band, Okanagan Band, Penticton Band & NlakaPamux Nation Tribal Council will meet for a media photo op with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Chair of BC Hydro & President and CEO of BC Hydro to sign the deal. The Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission (ILM) project is part of BC Hydros upgrading plans to refurbish and expand the electricity system.

The current Courthouse Gallery art show is all about anime (an-im eh). The show opens Friday, August 26 and runs through Saturday, September 24. Local artists are showing their best anime artwork. Gallery hours are Thursday 4-8pm; Friday & Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. Also hanging out in the gallery are some great pieces of artwork that have been contributed to the Gallery and Valley Visual Artists to be auctioned to raise money for new flooring and lights at the gallery, and for the VVA educational fund. These pieces will be auctioned in October. Come see the offerings ahead of the auction.
