OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:


• Install and ensure the cabling of the system
• Check the correct start-up of the system (Boards, Users & Trunk groups good working)
• Activate the main phone services on UA and Mobiles 100/200 terminals

The « + » of this training: Using a real customer site file, the participant will learn the exact installation of a system from
the beginning (cabling, system start and stop, etc.)

PREREQUISITES
• To have attended Basic Telephony training course (Ref.: FG00TE082) or to have equivalent knowledge
• To have knowledge of basic Computing skills:
• PC start and stop
• IP address modification
• Current use of PC

6.1 Direct Incoming call

All the UA Sets have the Direct Dialling Inward Facility.

The analogue sets can not be called directly but can be reached through the Attendant transfer.
The numbering plan descriptor (NPD) number 15 will be used for outbound and inbound DID translation:

between day and night mode.

Three mains accounts are used to manage and to maintenance the system, each one have some
specifics rights , the root account is used for the expert maintenance, mtcl account is used for
management of the database and technician’s maintenance and the last one , swinst, is used for
the management of the system like software downloading, save and restore database, OPS , etc …
Note: To disconnect enter “exit” for mtcl and root accounts and press “q” to leave swinst

Become familiar with navigating the system configuration using mgr (manager) application. This
application is contained in the Alcatel OmniPCX enterprise system software. It allows creation,

Note: Manager (mgr) is a menu application allowing the administrator to create, modify and view
configuration parameters. Only one manager instance should be started at one time.

6. INCOMING CALL

6.1 Direct Incoming call

All the UA Sets have the Direct Dialling Inward Facility.

The analogue sets can not be called directly but can be reached through the Attendant transfer.
The numbering plan descriptor (NPD) number 15 will be used for outbound and inbound DID translation:

6.2 Incoming calls to the main number


The main number will be the « entity #1 call » prefix 3x008 in order to be able to make a difference
between day and night mode.
Here is the required management for the Call Distribution Table of the entity 1

6.2.1 Day mode


On day Mode (when at least one attendant is present)

6.2.2 Night Mode

6.2.3 Internal General Attendant Call


When an internal user wants to reach an attendant, the prefix 9 is dialled.
This prefix must rout the call to the Call Distribution Table of the user's entity.

Each file contains a maximum of 2000 (first or last) incidents before or after CPU reset. System Messages
There are 2 buffers per file. Backup on hard disk
The first buffer contains the 500 oldest messages since the last shutdown.
 Incidents saved as files
The second buffer contains the 1500 newest messages before the next shutdown. Files

Database backup and restore
Overview

 After any objects modification or creation (1)


➨ Use swinst account to backup

 On the system there is also an automatic backup everyday


at 5:45 AM by default

 All of this backup’s files are stored on the CPU’s hard disk

 To copy the backups on your PC, you should make a FTP


connection(2)

- To learn how to save and restore the database via swinst

OVERVIEW
Save the database in the /usr4/BACKUP/IMMED using the swinst menu and download the database
in a specific Directory (e.g.: BACKUP) of your PC by FTP.

Login mtcl
Command swinst
Select 2 Expert menu
4 Backup & restore operation
1 Immediate backup operation
1 Immediate backup on cpu disk
1 Backup mao, voice guides and accounting data
Entry Your choice => 1
Action Your choice => press ENTER
Press ENTER
Press Q as many times as needed to exit from swinst menu

1.1.2 Transfer the database from the OmniPCX Enterprise to your pc


On the PC
Action Start / Run… on the field Open enter “cmd”
Create a specific folder to save your database (eg: backup)
command C:/> cd backup
Remark:
All files will be saved on this folder
command C:/backup>ftp 155.132.1.1

Use the ftp connection to save OPS files on your PC (155.132.1.1 = cpu IP@)
Use the mtcl login and pass for the ftp connection
command ftp> bin
Result 200 Type set to I.
Remark:
The command “bin” is used to transfer the data in binaries and not in ASCII
command ftp> cd /usr4/BACKUP/IMMED
Result 250 CWD command successful.
Remark:
Go to this specific folder to get the database file
command ftp> get mao-acc
ftp>quit

2. Clean immediate backups on CPU disk


On the call server

3. Restore the database from your pc to the OmniPCX Enterprise

3.1 Send the backup file by ftp in /usr4/BACKUP/IMMED Directory


On the PC
