Kadita wandered for seven nights until reaching the south ocean, where miraculously her illness was cured by the water. She began ruling over the south ocean and was known as Nyi Roro Kidul.

    THE MYTH OF NYI RORO KIDUL

    Long time ago, there are lived a king named King Munding or as known as Prabu Siliwangi. He
    had a very beautiful daughter called Princess Kadita. In fact, because of her beauty seemed like
    the song that rises in the east, kadita is often called dewi srengenge, which means the beautiful
    sun godess. Although King Munding Wangi loved Kadita very much, he always expected to
    have a son and god finally granted his wish. He decided to marry Dewi Mutiara. And finally,
    King Munding Wangi had a son from his second wife, Dewi Mutiara. At first, everything great
    normal, King Munding Wangi loved both of his children until one day when Dewi Mutiara came
    to King Munding Wangi and ask him to do a favor.
    ‘Good evening, my Majesty. I have a special request. And I really hope you can fulfill it. Can
    you please send away Kadita. I believe, she will be a hurdle towards our son in the future,’ asked
    Dewi Mutiara.
    ‘Huhh.. it is ridiculous. I won’t let anyone do in such cruel things to my daughter. I will never do
    that to my beloved daughter Kadita. What an evil demand.’ King Munding Wangi became angry.
    ‘My apologies Majesty, I was just saying things’. Although Dewi Mutiara said that, however
    King Munding Wangi’s word didn’t stop her evil intention.
    One day, Dewi Mutiara called her maid to sent a black magician. She wanted the black magician
    to curse Kadita.
    ‘I want you to do something to Princess Kadita. Make her body full of scabies and itch’. ‘make
    her suffer and suffer so bad. And if you succeed to impress me, I will pay you with a lot of
    money’.
    Black magician agreed.
    The sun rose, and Princess Kadita woke up from her beauty sleep. And she spontaneously
    screamed.
    ‘Aaaahkk, o my god, what’s happened to my skin? My body, my face and my smell? Mother,
    father help me’.
    Her body had been full of blood, scabies and itch and Her body smelled stinky. King Munding
    Wangi was sad and was suspicious that Dewi Mutiara was behind all of this. But, he didn’t have
    any evidence. So, he can’t blame Dewi Mutiara. King Munding Wangi tried every single method
    to cure Princess Kadita. But, nothing seemed to work. Everything even became more and more
    difficult. When Dewi Mutiara forced King Munding Wangi to sent away his daughter.
    ‘Hmm. My majesty, talking about Kadita’s illness. I heard from people that she is being cursed.
    It could be right my majesty, hhmm how poor is Kadita. My majesty, what do you think? Will
    you be embarrassed if that’s true. Don’t you think she will bring bad luck towards our kingdom?’
    ‘Oohh noo no. I beg you, I beg you to think about it my majesty’, Persuaded Dewi Mutiara
    deceitfully.
    King Munding Wangi was very sad. ‘But, Dewi Mutiara was right’. So he sent away Kadita.
    ‘ Princess Kadita, I want to talk to you. Leave the palace now for the sake of our kingdom’.
    ‘ My majesty, what did you mean? Don’t send me away’. ‘ How can you get rid of me father..
    I’m your own daughter. You’re all in flesh’. ‘Don’t send me away’.
    Kadita was being dragged away by the soldier. Meanwhile, from the back Dewi Mutiara and her
    son smiled with satisfaction.
    ‘Ahahha.. we did it. We finally did it my son. Now you will be the future king, there is no more
    obstacle’.
    Princess Kadita was indeed a beautiful princess inside out. Even after everything, her stepmother
    did to her, she didn’t hold any grunge towards her. Instead, she hopes for her family’s health and
    happiness. Kadita kept walking and walking away, she kept to god evey day.
    ‘ hhh.. dear god, it’s been seven nights I know you can’t hear my voice. Please help me, if I am
    worthy of it’.
    Finally after seven nights of walking in the forest, Kadita reach the south ocean. When she
    looked into the ocean, she felt so amazed. The ocean was different with another ocean that has a
    blue or green color.
    ‘Such a beautiful landscape the ocean is clean and clear. I’ve never seen anything like this
    before’.
    Then Kadita jumped to the water and swam but out of the blue when the south ocean water
    touched her skin, miraculously all of her illness was gone. She even became prettier than before
    ‘aaaohhh… my illness.. my body and my skin went back to normal. Oohh thank you, thank you
    god for your kindness’.
    She was so happy that she started to dance under the moonlight.
    Since then, she has ruled the south ocean and was known as Nyi Roro Kidul.
