1. INTRODUCTION:

The two main elements of room design are space segmentation and atmosphere
creation. The means used in atmosphere creation are body, color, light and texture.
These four elements are mainly reflected in the design of the facade of the living
room. Wooden door is an important part of the facade, its shape, color and texture
play an indispensable role in completing the ideal atmosphere of the living room.

2. SCOPE:

The method statement shall be briefed to all appropriate operatives to ensure that
they are aware of the sequence of activities and any Client/Consultant project
specific requirements.
The purpose of this Method of Statement for Wooden Door installation work is to
outline the materials and labor required to undertake the works in a safe and
controlled manner, compiling with relevant legislation, standards, and codes of
practice etc.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES:

3.1 CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Have the responsibility of the management or control of a work place, with their
area of authority, and must ensure this procedure is implemented. They shall
maintain Hazard and Risk register and appropriate signage for their work place; and
shall ensure that site Senior Engineer assigned for the management and execution of
work within their area of authority.

3.2 SENIOR ENGINEER

Have the responsibility of the management, supervise and control of a work place,
with their area of authority, and must ensure this procedure is implemented. They
shall maintain Hazard and Risk register and appropriate signage for their work place;
and shall ensure that site Senior Engineer assigned for the management and
execution of work within their area of authority. Always report the progress of work
to Project Manager.

3.3 SITE ENGINEER \ FORMAN

Has The responsibility in all activities on site are carried out in accordance the
construction drawing and take care all worker to be work with their responsibilities
and make a decision when some non-conformance occurring their report to senior
engineer.

3.4 QA/QC ENGINEER

Responsible to monitor the execution and performance of the works in relation to


this method statement, approved drawings and material speciation; detect and
report non-conformance: ensure that all non-conformance; ensure that all
conformance products or activities identified are reported; purpose the corrective
and preventive action where possible and appropriate and record the completion
the Non Conformance by Report format.

3.7 SAFETY/ ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER

Responsible in ensuring that all activities are carried out safety patrol at the site.
Establishing the site safety plan, conducting continuous safety inspection and stop
any work deemed unsafe and a risk to personal. Taking action to rectify the unsafe
condition and report to Safety manager

4. MATERIALS:

Wooden architraves Hammer Plastic covers
Hinges Level
Screws/ bolts Shims
Door locks and accessories Silicon/Grout

5. DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING:

A. Store Doors in clean dry ventilated area.


Stack doors flat and off floors, supported to
prevent wharfing. No other materials to be
place on top of stacked doors.

B. All doors will be packed with plastic,


cardboard protection to edges.

C. Store flat over level surface above floor on wood blocks or tray shelves.

D. Each doors and frames tagged with sticker with door number and location.

E. All doors and frames delivered with finish factory painting final touch will be at
site before handing over.

6. WORK PROCEDURE:

A. Check the tagged each door and locate as


per the approved shop drawing and door
schedule.

B. Verify opening dimension and angles and


levels from finish floor line reference to
ensure that frames fit the openings. Align
and fit the door in frame to each desired
location and elevation.

C. Fix door frames by anchor bolts located as


per approved shop drawings and to be
covered by wood caps later.

D. Install, align and fit the doors in frames


with uniform clearance and bevel to provide
3mm at heads, jambs and between pairs of
doors, bottom of door to top of decorative
floor finish or covering as per approved shop drawings.

E. Architraves will be fixed by nail and to be covered by wood putty. All surrounding
gaps will be filled with silicone.

F. Completed wood doors shall operate freely and smoothly without rattle or bound
condition and maintain at-least 5-10mm gap clearance along the bottom and floor
finished.

G. Clean stains and traces of cleaning fluid.

7. ADJUSTING AND PROTECTION:

A. Protect door (plastic sheets) as


recommended by manufacturer to ensure
that wood doors are without damage or
deterioration at the time of Substantial
Completion.

B. Replace doors that do not swing or operate


freely.

C. Replace doors that are damaged during installation.

8. Safety:

All works shall comply with safety procedure or instruction as set out in project
safety plan and municipality rules and regulations. All safety recommendations as
advised by the approved sub-contractor.
Basic PPE to be worn by all staff or laborers.
Provide lighting when working at night.
