    FAQ - Aircraft Insights

    This document contains a collection of frequently asked questions regarding the Aircraft Insights module.

    Data required to generate the Aircraft Insights module


    1. What is Aircraft Insights?
    Aircraft Insights unlocks the value of rich flight data. Modern aircraft capture a wealth of operational
    flight data. Garmin avionics record a full snapshot of this flight data once per second. In most cases,
    this data goes unused, and thus operators aren’t given the ability to gain valuable information about
    their flights. CAMP is changing that.
    Aircraft Insights leverages full-flight operational data recorded by Garmin avionics to provide you with
    rich, actionable information. Once submitted to CAMP, your data is analyzed and presented in user
    friendly charts and compared to various manufacturer recommended limits and thresholds (and in
    the future compared to the rest of the aircraft model fleet). The module lets you to maximize safety,
    optimize efficiency, and perform flight debriefings. Aircraft Insights is part of the CAMP MTX service
    and is available within the iCAMP mobile application.
    2. What aircraft models are supported by the Aircraft Insights module?
    The new module will be rolled out initially for Garmin equipped aircraft. The models supported and
    the approximate dates for support are shown below.

    3. What parameters are analyzed in the Aircraft Insights module?


    Initially, the following parameters will be analyzed and presented as part of Aircraft Insights.
    Additional parameters will be added as part of the product enhancement roadmap.
    • Flight Log (Geographic Location)
    • Startup Performance (Battery Voltage)

    • Temperature Envelope (Outside Air Temperature and Altitude)
    • N1 and N2 (%)
    • Internal Turbine Temperature

    4. How can I capture and download my aircraft’s full-flight data?


    If your aircraft is equipped with a Garmin recorder (with the latest software update), it automatically
    stores the required full-flight data as either a data log file or a continuous log file in an SD card. For
    detailed instructions on how to download this data from your specific model, click here.
    5. How do I send the full-flight data to CAMP?
    You have two options available, iCAMP using an SD Card Reader or through the main CAMP
    application for those with an active CAMP EHM subscription.
    For instructions using the SD Card Reader, please refer to this educational video.
    The CAMP Systems 3.0 website provides an easy-to-use interface for uploading data files from the
    Garmin system. First, you must login to your CAMP account. Then, access the data upload screen by
    selecting "File Upload" under the "Submit Trend Data" drop-down menu. If you work exclusively in
    the iCAMP environment, you will need to zip the data file and email it to
    [email protected].

    6. I performed a download and the files in the SD card are too big to send via email. How do I send them
    to CAMP?
    SD card files too big to email can be easily uploaded directly through the iCAMP app using an SD Card
    Reader.
    7. If I send the full-flight data, do I also need to send the engine trend data?
    No, it is not required. The full-flight data contains engine trend data and more. To take full benefit of
    your MTX and EHM subscription, we recommend that you only send full-flight data, since it is richer
    in content and enables us to provide you with more valuable information.

    Access to Aircraft Insights


    8. Where is the Aircraft Insights module available?
    The module is available within iCAMP (the mobile application included with every CAMP subscription)
    in the tab called "Aircraft Insights". Press the “Aircraft Insights” tab to load the module.
    Please double check that you and your aircraft meet the necessary requirements to have access to
    the module (see question #9).
    Aircraft Insights can be accessed in the main CAMP MTX application on desktop by selecting Aircraft
    Insights from the Left Navigation Panel.
    9. Who will have access to the module?
    You can access the Aircraft Insights module based on your authorization and aircraft status:

    1. The User must be assigned to the Owner or Operator company of a supported aircraft model
    (see list of supported aircraft models in Question #2)
    2. The Full-flight data log files for the aircraft have been downloaded and submitted (refer to
    question #4)
    3. The Aircraft has an active subscription to CAMP Maintenance
    4. The User has the “Aircraft Insights” iCAMP privilege set – this privilege can be set by the Admin
    User from the “User Administration” function in CAMP Maintenance. For instructions on
    assigning these privileges, please see Question #10. Alternatively, you may contact
    [email protected] or ask your Aircraft Analyst for assistance.
    10. I am an Admin User. How do I grant Aircraft Insights permission?
    Admin users can set permissions by selecting “Settings” then “User Administration.” Under iCAMP
    privileges, make sure the “Aircraft Insights” privilege is selected.
    11. I own a different aircraft model other than those supported. When will I have access to this module?
    Aircraft Insights will first be deployed for Garmin equipped aircraft. CAMP is evaluating if it is possible
    to extend the module to other transmitters.
    12. How do I restrict access to this module to some users of my account?
    Administrator Users can manage who has the privilege to access the Aircraft Insights module.
    In CAMP Maintenance, the Admin User needs to go to “Settings”, “User Administration”, and under
    the iCAMP privileges make sure the “Aircraft Insights” privilege is unselected (to restrict access).
    13. If I'm not the only person operating this aircraft, will other pilots see my flights data?
    Only other users from the Operators/Owners accounts with the iCAMP privilege “Aircraft Insights”
    will have access to this data. To restrict access, refer to question #12.
    14. Does CAMP share this data with Service Centers and OEMs?
    No, only Operators and Owners are authorized to access this module for a specific aircraft. In the
    future, we may offer aggregate analytics to OEMs so they can learn from the trends of the aircraft
    and engine models. However, customer-specific information will stay confidential and anonymous.
    15. Can I see the module on my desktop computer?
    Yes, you may access the iCAMP application via desktop computer by going to:
    https://icampapp.campsystems.com/web.

    16. How much does CAMP charge for this service/module?
    For supported aircraft models, the Aircraft Insights module is included as part of every standard-
    priced CAMP Maintenance Tracking subscription. There is no additional fee to get access to the
    Aircraft Insights module.
    17. Will EHM-only aircraft have access to Aircraft Insights?
    No, the aircraft must have an active Maintenance Tracking subscription.
