Philippine’s Natural Resources

I. Learning Objectives:

Competency:

Describe ways of using Earth’s resources wisely.

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

A. Identify the natural resources found in the Philippines based on the video presentation.
B. Explain the effects of some human activities on natural resources using the given situation.
C. Share their insights on ways to reduce the effects of human activities through classroom
discussion.

B. Review of the Past Lesson


- Latitude and longitude in locating different places on Earth.
- Relationship between latitude of a place and the climate it experiences.

C. Motivation:
- Video presentation showing the beauty of earth’s natural resources.
D. Presentation/Discussion

 Unlocking Difficulties

Biodiversity - The presence of various pants and animals in a particular habitat.


Endemic - species which can only be found in one place not in other places.

1. What is resources?
o The things that people use in order to satisfy their needs.

2. Can you give an example of natural resources?

o Water forms, land forms, trees, plants, minerals etc.

3. What are the importance of water forms


o These water forms are accountable for supporting high biodiversity in that area.

4. Can you name some endemic plants and animals that can be found in the Philippines?
o Tamaraw and Mouse deer or Pilandok in Mindoro, Tarsier in Bohol

5. What are the minerals that we have in the Philippines?


o Gold, Granite, Iron, Marble etc.

6. What are examples of metallic minerals?


o Gold, Iron, aluminum etc.

7. What are the examples of non metallic minerals?


o Marble, granite, clay etc.

8. Where can we found mineral deposits in the Philippines?


o Mineral deposits can be found where volcanoes are present.

9. Name some famous volcanoes in the Philippines.


o Mayon Volcano, Taal Volcano etc.

10. Give some energy resources that we have in our country.


o Solar energy, Hydroelectric energy, Geothermal energy

E. Practice:
Group the class into 3 and the teacher will give out different illustrations that shows the effect of
human activities in our natural resources.
The students need to give out their opinion and explanation about these.
IV. Evaluation:

Direction: On a one fourth sheet of paper, answer the questions below with a brief answer.

1. Since many of the resources that we have today are not in endless supply, as a student what
way can you help conserve and protect our natural resources. Design your slogan artistically.

V. Assignments:

Make a slogan showing how to protect and conserve our natural resources. Put it in a one

Fourth cartolina of any color. Design you slogan artistically and make it presentable to the

class. Deadline for the submission of slogan will be on Monday.
