QUARTER 1 -
Personal development is a lifetime process that involves
assessing one's current skills and talents and improving
oneself based on that assessment, leading to the achievement
of goals and a higher quality of life. To be able to evaluate
yourself, you must be able to reflect on your past, which will
help you understand your attitudes and the foundation upon
which you will build your life. You must also think on your
current situation to see if there is potential for change, as well
as your future to ensure that your goals are met. It is critical
for each individual to recognize and prioritize personal
values. My recent focus has been on strengthening my
relationship with God. It has been really difficult for me to
keep this priority in mind on a daily basis. During a typical
busy day, I am confronted with so many difficulties and
possibilities that my list of "things to do" often outnumbers
the time I have available to do them. As a result, I used to
spend a lot of time on activities that were lower priority
because just a handful of these things were related to what I
value most. Currently, I am able to spend enough attention on
my beliefs, and as a result, I am able to achieve my goals.
QUARTER 2 -
This quarter was quite interesting as I had a chance to sit down
and actually talk with my parents about their specific views and
attitudes on several topics. The values that I believe in play a very
important role in my life. These important values have been
greatly influences by my family. Our parents are the ones who
first instilled values into us. As I grew up, where we loving our
friends and life experiences helped us refine our own values.
My Hispanic Heritage plays an important role in my life. It
defines me as a person and it influences my behavior. My family
values consist if respect, honesty, courage, loves caring, education
by my mother and grandmother from a very young age. These
values are a great importance and will be handed Teens today
lacked the simple values of yesterday because of the exposure to
the negative things in the world. Family unity is communicating
with each other. These family values differ from each other all
over the world. We live in a culture where we fear one another,
hate each other and even kill each other. How bad do things in our
culture have to get before we stop and look at what brought us to
this place. I believe a key part of the answer to that question lies in
families. Don’t get me wrong there are many great single parents
out there. Which was my mother till she met my stepfather. In our
family there are no defined roles.
