Mathematics 9
I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
State the properties of parallelograms.
Apply the properties of parallelograms in solving problems.
Appreciate the importance of properties of parallelograms in solving real-life problems.
III. Procedure
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Routinary Activities
Before we start our lesson, may I ask (Someone will lead the prayer)
to lead our prayer?
B. Motivation
PARALLELOGRAM
RHOMBUS
RECTANGLE
SQUARE
TRAPEZOID
KITE
C. Review
What was the topic you have learned last meeting?
It was all about solving different problems
involving parallelograms, trapezoids and kites
using their properties.
Very Good!
D. Activity
Class, let’s have another activity. In this activity, I
will give you an illustration of a parallelogram and
its given information. Then you will answer the
questions that follow. You will be given 5 minutes
Yes, Sir!
to do this activity. Did you understood?
Questions;
1. 3x-5 = x+7
1. What is the value of x? 3x-x = 7+5
2. How long is AB? 2x/2 = 12/2
x=6
3. What is the value of y?
2. AB = (3x-5)cm
4. How long is AD? AB = [3(6)-5]cm
5. What is the perimeter of the parallelogram AB = (18-5)cm
ABCD? AB = 13cm
3. y+3 = 2y-7
y-2y = -7-3
-y = -10
y = 10
4. AD = (y+3)cm
AD = (10+3)cm
AD = 13cm
5. Perimeter= 13cm+13cm+13cm+13cm
= 52 cm
Analysis
What property of parallelogram did you used
to determine the lengths of AB and AD? The opposite sides of a parallelogram are
congruent.
Based on your activity, what is the value of
x and y? How did you obtained it?
The value of x is 6 and the value of y is 10. We
obtained the values of the x and y by applying
the first property of parallelogram.
Abstraction
Our topic this morning/afternoon will be just
a continuation of the topic which is solving
problems specifically on parallelograms.
m<1= 9x-20
m<1= 9(12)-20
m<1= 108-20
m<1= 88° .
P= 2L+2W
P= 2(10m)+2(5m)
P=20m+10m
P=30m
3. One diagonal of a square measure
(2x+4)in. If the other diagonal measures 20
in., what is x?
2x+4=20
2x=20-4
2x/2=16/2
x=8
IV. Application
Solve the problem below and show your
solutions. Write your answer in a 1/4 sheet
of paper.
P = 2l+2w
36m=2(10m)+2w
36m = 20m+2w
36m-20m = 2w
16m/2 = 2w/2
8m = w
A = lw
A = (10m)(8m)
A= 80 m2
V. Evaluation
Solve the problem below and show your
solutions. Write your answer in a 1/4 sheet
of paper.
l = (2w-5)ft.
l = 2(10ft)-5ft
l = 20ft-5ft
l = 15ft
A = lw
A = (15ft)(10ft)
A= 150 ft 2
VI. Assignment
Solve the problem by applying the properties
on parallelogram. Write your answer in a 1/4
sheet of paper.
6x-20+80=180
6x+60=180
6x=180-60
6x/x=120/6
x=20
