Social media comes in different forms and shapes depending on the purpose that it serves.
Social media sites and applications can be used for communicating information, interacting
with other users, and sharing multimedia content like pictures and videos. The building of
“virtual communities” points to one type of social media that enables members to share
information and discuss issues and topics that concern them.

-So there are many types of social media based on what purposes that they serve depending on
their uses, first is:

Social Networking Sites


Social networking sites, shortened as SNS, are the most popular type of social media
due to their capability to provide users with a real-time conversation via text messages,
audio, or video chat. The continuous developments made to social networking sites and their
counterpart applications also allow individuals and organizations to share multimedia
elements like photographs and videos to their preferred audiences in the network. Social
networking sites also paved the way for the formation.

-so basically social networking sites are sites or apps that helps you to
communicate and interact with other users and share information with
them. one of the examples of this sites is Facebook, messenger, twitter and
dating apps sites.

Assistive Media for the Visually Impaired


This refers to electronic devices that enable blind or visually impaired individuals to read
books and signages, access smartphones and computers, and use wayfinding. It includes
text-to-speech devices, reading pens, braille displays, magnifiers, and talking devices.

One of the reason of impaired individuals to be an introvert person or majority of these


individuals are not a part of a group or other organizations, it is because of their
condition, but, with the help of this devices they are able to gain confidence again and
not to be ashamed of their situation and to live normal person like other individuals.

Assistive Media for People with Hearing Impairments


This is the type of assistive media for people who are deaf or who experience difficulty in
hearing. The assistance is through sound amplification, conversion of sounds into visual
cues, and conversion of sounds into sensory signals like vibrations. The assistive media of
“virtual communities” that enable people from around the world to form channels for
information exchanges

The disadvantage of deaf people is they cannot communicate normally like other people
do and because of this, they are one of the victims of bullying, but there are
professionals like them that can communicate with the help of this devices and had a
proper job that fit them.
