ACCOUNTING MAJOR GRADUATION PRACTICE ISSUES AND COUNTERMEASURES

INTRODUCTION

Accounting is a discipline that emphasizes application and practice, hence higher vocational universities
typically provide graduation internships for students. Graduation practice is an important aspect of student
training, however there are still numerous issues with accounting majors' graduation practice at higher
vocational institutions. The purpose of this paper examines the issues briefly and proposes answers and
techniques for improving the efficiency of graduation practice. A research design of this study is positivism
paradigm, a quantitative method, exploratory study type, a deductive approach and survey stratergy. This
study used a sample of 310 undergraduate students from various universities. The questionnaire has 21
question items from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The questionnaire dissemination was finished by the
end of October 2021. The descriptive statistics gathered were input and analyzed using the SPSS version 26
software.

Accounting majors at higher vocational universities can choose between on-campus simulation internships
and off-campus practical work internships based on the location of their internship. The on-campus simulation
practice generates a specific genuine scene to prepare college students for work by modeling the enterprise's
internal accounting roles, and it trains graduate students' actual working abilities. Teachers should identify
and address students' shortcomings in simulated practice so that students may apply what they have learnt in
school to relevant employment as quickly as feasible. Off-campus accounting practice is the encouragement
of students to participate in off-campus accounting practice. Off-campus internships are most effective when
students go to businesses and undertake actual work in accounting roles. Students may practice their unity,
collaboration, and communication skills while learning to utilize their newly acquired information in a
flexible manner. Graduation practice may be split into more than one kind based on the division of service
objects, and the real work is performed in the occupations of various service objects. All sorts of practice,
however, can be subdivided into manual operation practice and automated operation practice. The following
is an examination of the challenges that exist in the graduation practice of accounting majors at higher
vocational institutions, as well as some particular remedies from the standpoint of education management, in
order to enhance the practice plan and the effect of graduation practice. For the study, it consists of the five
particular chapters: Introduction, Literature Review, Research Methodology, Research Results and
Discussion, Conclusions of Study and Recommendation.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Accounting is a career that requires accounting knowledge or experience Itan and Gabriela's (2021). When we
think of the accounting profession, we have a picture in our minds of a career that involves numbers and
finance. Many students have aspirations to become professional accountants since they have studied
accounting information. Karina and Wijaya's research (2021) on the outcomes of accountant work,
specifically the perspectives of accountant students on the positive outcomes of accountant work in the form
of income such as salary, other financial incentives, benefits, bonuses, and pension funds, as well as other
work outcomes such as opportunities for career advancement, personal satisfaction, testimony and reputation,
and others. The problem of accounting work that accounting students get is salary after graduating. The
findings of a study conducted by Alvin Juliansah & Rossje V Suryaputri (2016) on Accounting Students'
Perceptions of the Accountant Profession with specific independent variables the problem when accounting
students practice, the picture of the accounting profession, the way universities educate students, and
measures to deal with problems that arise in the accounting environment. The findings of this study reveal that
the impact of the problem on students' practice after graduation and the university's educational approach are
inextricably linked.
