Activity 1.1 Exploring The School Campus
To realize the Intended Learning Outcome, work my way through these steps:
1. Visit a school. Look into facilities and support learning areas in the campus,
then in the classroom.
2. Observe and use the checklist as you move around the school premises.
3. Analyze your gathered data about the school environment.
4. Reflect on the characteristics of a school environment that promotes learning.
5. Present your idea of a good school environment through any of these:
a) Descriptive paragraph
b) Photo essay
c) Sketch or drawing
d) Poem, song or rap
OBSERVATION
As you move around the campus, observations forms are provided for you to
document your observations. It is advised that you read the entire worksheet before

When we first entered the room and observe the class, we have different kind of feelings
some of our group member are nervous and I am one of that, but there’s a excitement also
because this is our first observation in our FS 1. Seeing students in high school, especially
the class that we are task to observe, making uncertain things liked talking to their
classmates, making fun and etc. before focusing to their teachers discussion and lesson. So
in every classroom, it is very important on how it will become conducive to learning, so that
students become active in class discussion because they are comfortable. During my
observation, I can say that good interaction is very important in the classroom. Teachers must
know how to get their students interest so that they will listen and also the student must do
their responsibility so they will have a smooth discussion, a fun and exciting learning and
teaching. For their aged as a student they’re capable of things that only them are good in
making.
ANALYZE
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning
of the student going to school? What are your conclusions?
School campus or the classroom plays an important role in the learning of the
learners, so its impact must be good. The school campus and the classroom is
already enough to accommodate all students and give the students all their needs.
Some rooms are conducive to learning but some are not. There are many factors that
affect the learning; it can be positive or negative. It depends on the student’s
determination to learn despite of the interferences they encounter
How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/
How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
In child and adolescent development, I know that the child’s cognitive level is still
developing and they’re still acquiring and constructing knowledge into their minds so
in facilitating learning, topics should involve the appropriate level or mental operations
for a child of given age. I must avoid asking pupils to perform tasks that are beyond
their current cognitive capabilities.
REFLECT
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why?
Why not?

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?
I can accomplish it by designing and organizing first of what will be the
procedures and routines to be implemented to make the class organized and
have an atmosphere conducive to learning. I will use a lot of visual aids to be
posted on the walls and damage lights and appliances must be repaired so
that students will be interested to learn.
5. Write your additional learnings and insights here.
To have the attention of our students, as student teacher’s we should be
encouraging and motivated. Addition to that we should be clean and proper.

REFLECT
1. While you were observing the learners, did you own experiences when
you were their age? What similarities or differences do you have with
the learners you observed?
There’s always a memories or a flashback when I saw them doing things that
also I did when I was on their year. Just like them, doing random things inside
in the class liked talking or chatting during break time and I observed that
other learners are competitive same with my year when I was in high school
that I believed it’s important to every students to grow and being responsible

Which is your favorite theory of development. How can this guide you as a future
teacher? Clip some reading about this theory and paste them here.
The Piaget’s Stage Theory which describes about the cognitive development
of children. Because of this theory, we will be able to understand the
abilities and challenges that a children and adult might face with their cognitive
process.
Piaget’s theory simply tell us that we move through different stages of mental
development. This is why our learning ability, comprehension and acquiring of
knowledge is different when we are young and when we reach adulthood. Starting
from birth to adult, our intelligence changes. Using this a tool to understand better
students will help me realize that differentiated and modified responses in terms of
instruction, assessing and developing learning materials is important. Children
are naturally diverse especially in mental abilities. Through cognitive
development theory, I will be able to identify their individual needs and respond
to these need appropriately.
