incorporate a trauma-informed approach to our school counseling practice, the best
practices for doing so, and resources to utilize going forward.

1. Approximately one third of children reported at least 1
traumatic event by age 16.
2. As many as 18% of girls and 7% of boys develop post-
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following a traumatic
event.
3. Preventing ACEs could reduce the number of adults with
depression by as much as 34%.
4. 55% of adults had at least one ACE and 16% had 4 or more
types of ACEs.
