String Fling Permission Form

What?
String Fling involves all the Beginner Orchestra students from FBISD in concert together,
over two nights – there are over 900 students! Students will receive a String Fling T-shirt, pizza and
water, practice as one huge orchestra together, and then perform a concert for parents,
friends, and teachers. We will also have a guest musician from the Houston Symphony perform
for and with us. Parents should attend the concert at 7:00 p.m. and will take their child home
after the performance.
When? February 1, 2023 We will take bus from campus to the concert rehearsal at Hopson
Field House at 1:00 pm. Parents are encouraged and expected to attend the concert and will
need to take your child home from Hopson Field House after the performance ends.
Where? Hopson Field House, 3335 Hurricane Ln, Missouri City, TX 77459. This is located at the
Hightower High School campus.
What do we wear? Jeans and current Orchestra T-shirt to school. You will change into
your new String Fling t-shirt at school and/or at Hopson Field House.
Cost? There was enough in the fundraiser to cover the cost of string fling.
What do I bring? A folding music stand, instrument/bow, rosin, rock stop or shoulder rest,
bass stools and your orchestra binder with String Fling Music (including your pencil). Label
everything you bring with your name and QVMS!
Cello, Bass, and Harp will need to use home instruments; please bring them to school by the
morning of February 1, 2023 or make arrangements with your director to deliver them to Hopson
Field House.

Yes, my child may ride on the school bus to Hopson Field House Wednesday
February 1, 2023, for the FBISD String Fling rehearsal and concert. I will be there to
pick up my child at Hopson Field House by 7:45 pm if I cannot make it to the
concert at 7:00 pm.
No, my child may not participate in this event. I understand that not participating
in a concert will result in a zero for two major grades.
