CRJ700/900/1000
1. General
A. The maintenance procedure that follows is to lift the aircraft on jacks. The jacking point for the
forward fuselage is found on the center line, aft of the nose landing gear. The jacking points for
the main wings are found on the rear spar of each wing, at the intersection of the
inboard/outboard flaps.

3. Job Set−Up
A. Make sure that the aircraft is in the standard configuration for maintenance
(TASK 12−00−00−867−801).
D. On the N/W STRG control panel, make sure that the nose wheel steering selector−switch is in
OFF position.
WARNING: OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW WHEN YOU PUT THE AIRCRAFT ON
JACKS OUTDOORS:
– MAKE SURE THAT THE WIND SPEED IS NOT MORE THAN 20 KNOTS (23 MPH
- 37KM/H)
– MAKE SURE THAT YOU CONTINUOUSLY MONITOR THE WIND SPEED
– MAKE SURE THAT THE CENTER OF GRAVITY IS IN THE ALLOWABLE LIMITS
– MAKE SURE THAT THE QUANTITY OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANKS IS EQUAL
– MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE THRUST OF ANOTHER AIRCRAFT DO NOT
AFFECT THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS
– IF POSSIBLE, PUT THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE WIND
– IF POSSIBLE, PUT THE AIRCRAFT NEAR A LARGE BUILDING FOR
PROTECTION FROM THE WIND
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IS ON THE
JACKS, YOU MUST INSTALL THE DOOR SUPPORT CABLE. IF YOU DO NOT
OBEY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR.
G. Close the passenger door or, if the door is to stay open, install the door support cable.
NOTE: If the jacking pad helicoil is damaged or missing on the nose jacking point, do not
install the nose jack ballast.
NOTE: If weight is removed on the forward section or added on the aft section of the aircraft,
check the center of gravity of the aircraft and install the nose jack ballast.
(1) Install a nose jack ballast to prevent tip−up of the aircraft as follows:
(a) Remove the nylon plug from the forward fuselage jacking point.
(b) Examine the flange of the jacking point for burrs and remove them if necessary.
(c) Slide a hydraulic lift and nose jack ballast under the aircraft.
NOTE: Make sure the open side of the nose jack ballast points to the aircraft tail.
(d) Align the nose jack ballast assembly with the nose jacking pad location.
(e) Operate the hydraulic lift until the nose jack ballast can be attached to the aircraft
using a jacking pad.
(f) Install the jacking pad and secure the nose jack ballast.
(g) Torque the nose jacking pad from 40 to 50 lbf·in (4.52 to 5.65 N·m). Make sure that the
nose jacking pad shoulder touches the fuselage.
(h) Lower the hydraulic lift and remove it from under aircraft.
NOTE: Make sure the barrels of the steady pads are installed at 90 degrees with
the skin.
(j) Turn the four barrels 1.5 turns, by hand, when the pad touches the skin of the aircraft.
I. Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum jacking weight that follows:
4. Procedure
Refer to Figure 1
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS DIRECTLY BELOW
THE RIVET LINE AT FS1163.11 (12.0 FEET AFT OF THE BAGGAGE
COMPARTMENT DOOR). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE
TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(2) Extend the rear fuselage support until the shoring beam is approximately 3 in (7.62 cm) from
the aircraft structure.
(4) Install the jacking pads in the left and right wing jacking points.
NOTE: Before you install the jacking pads, examine the flange for burrs and remove
them if necessary.
(5) Torque the left and right wing jacking pads from 40 to 50 lbf·in (4.52 to 5.65 N·M). Make
sure that the jacking pad shoulder touches the wing structure.
NOTE: If the jacking pad helicoil is damaged or missing on the left and right wing jacking
point, do not torque the jacking pad.
(6) If you did not install the ballast assembly, install the nose jacking pad.
(7) Torque the nose jacking pad from 40 to 50 lbf·in (4.52 to 5.65 N·M). Make sure that the
jacking pad shoulder touches the fuselage structure.
NOTE: If the jacking pad helicoil is damaged or missing on the nose jacking point, do not
torque the jacking pad.
(9) Extend the jacks until they lightly touch the jacking pads.
(11) Remove the wheel chocks from all the landing gear wheels.
WARNING: YOU MUST OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW WHEN YOU LIFT OR
LOWER THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS:
(2) Extend all jacks slowly and equally in short increments of 2 in (4.68 cm) to prevent side
loads and to keep the aircraft level.
NOTE: Move the safety collars on the jacks after each jack extension increment to safety
the jack in that position.
(3) Adjust the height of the rear fuselage support after each jack extension increment.
NOTE: This is necessary to make allowance for the extension height of the jacks. Keep a
minimum distance of 3 in (7.62 cm) from the surface of the aircraft.
(4) Lock the jacks extension locknuts when the wheels are off the ground.
NOTE: A minimum of 4 in (10.16 cm) clearance between the ground and wheels is
necessary if the gear is to be retracted.
(5) Extend the rear fuselage support until the shoring beam touches the aircraft structure.

CSP−B−001 TASK 10−11−00−400−801 Installation of the Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Lockpin
CSP−B−001 TASK 10−11−01−910−801 Set the Parking Brake
3. Job Set−Up
A. Make sure the aircraft is in the same configuration as in the jacking task.
4. Procedure
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LOWER THE AIRCRAFT OFF OF THE JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
(1) Make sure that the lockpin is installed in the NLG (TASK 10−11−00−400−801).
(3) Extend the nose jack slightly and loosen the safety collar on the jack.
(5) Slowly lower the jack in 2 in. (50.80 mm) increments. Make sure that you keep the safety
collar approximately 2 in. (50.80 mm) above the locked position on the jack.
(6) Have a second person adjust the rear fuselage support continuously to keep 3 in. (76.20
mm) clearance between the fuselage support and the aircraft.
(7) Lower the nose tripod jack until the nose wheels are on the ground and the NLG shock strut
is at normal compression.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE WHEEL CHOCKS ARE IN POSITION AT THE MAIN
WHEEL/TIRE ASSEMBLIES. MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(10) Lower the rear fuselage support and remove it from the area.

(4) Operate the hydraulic lift until it takes the weight of the ballast assembly.
(6) Lower the hydraulic lift with the nose ballast assembly.
(7) Move the hydraulic lift with the nose ballast assembly away from the aircraft.
B. If you did not install the nose ballast assembly, remove the nose jacking pad from the jacking
point.
E. Remove the tags and close the circuit breakers that follow:
