Name: Score:
This rubric is used to verify specific tasks performed when constructing this model. If the task has
been successfully complete at acceptable quality, all points will be awarded. Poor quality work will
reduce the score at Mr. Jay’s discretion. Not points are awarded if the task is not complete.

SelfEvaluation The overall score provided will be an average of the teacher mark and student
mark. If there is a difference between the student evaluation and the teacher
evaluation that is greater than 10 points, the higher mark will be reduced to a
difference of only 5 marks before averaging the two marks together.

Biology 12 – ThreeDimensional Cell Project
Your first project of the biology 12 year is to produce a three‐dimensional plant or animal cell using
everyday things. In doing this, you must produce a model that has all the organelles of the specific
cell you are producing. The enclosed marking rubric will indicate the organelles required per
eukaryotic cell. Each organelle must be labeled (flag, stickers, or a numbering system are
acceptable) and you must somehow produce a key that explains each of their jobs. The cell should
be three‐dimensional but also provide a cross‐sectional view that allows sight of all of the
organelles required.
Please note that in order to garner the maximum mark everything produced must be free of
spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
This should not become an expensive endeavor. You should be using simple things you can find at
home or cheap items you can find at the grocery store.
Enclosed is a copy of the marking rubric that I will be using when I score your cell model. Please use
it to guide you in your effort to produce a perfect three‐dimensional representation of an
Eukaryotic cell.
