To format a Windows computer, you can follow these steps:

Important note: Formatting a computer will erase all data on the hard drive. Make
sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

Backup your data: Copy all important files, documents, photos, videos, and any
other data you want to keep to an external storage device or a cloud-based backup
service.

Create a Windows installation media: You'll need a bootable Windows installation

media to format and reinstall the operating system. You can create a bootable USB
drive by downloading the Windows installation ISO file from the official Microsoft
website and using a tool like Rufus to create the bootable USB drive.

Insert the Windows installation media: Insert the bootable USB drive into a USB
port on your computer.

Restart your computer: Restart your computer and enter the BIOS or boot menu by
pressing a specific key (e.g., F2, F12, ESC) during the boot process. The specific
key may vary depending on your computer's manufacturer.

Choose the boot device: In the BIOS or boot menu, select the USB drive as the
primary boot device. Save the changes and exit the BIOS or boot menu.

Start the Windows installation process: Your computer will now boot from the
Windows installation media. Follow the on-screen prompts to begin the installation
process.

Choose your language and keyboard layout: Select your preferred language, time, and
currency format, as well as the keyboard layout.

Install Windows: Click on "Install Now" to start the installation process.

Accept the license terms: Read and accept the license terms to proceed with the
installation.

Choose the installation type: Select the "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)"
option.

Select the drive to format: You'll see a list of drives or partitions on your
computer. Select the drive where Windows is currently installed (usually labeled as
"Drive 0"). Make sure to double-check the drive you select to avoid formatting the
wrong drive.

Format the drive: Click on "Drive options (advanced)" and then choose the "Format"
option to erase the contents of the drive. Confirm the formatting process when
prompted.

Install Windows: After formatting the drive, select the formatted drive and click
"Next" to start the installation of Windows on the newly formatted drive.

Follow the on-screen prompts: Continue following the on-screen prompts to complete
the installation of Windows. You may be prompted to create a user account, enter a
product key, and set up additional settings.

Install drivers and software: After the installation is complete, install any
necessary drivers for your hardware and reinstall any software applications you
need.
That's it! Your Windows computer has been formatted, and the operating system has
been reinstalled. Remember to restore your backed-up data to your computer and
configure your settings as needed.
