II. Product Plan

Purpose of the Product

The main purpose of the founder of malungGALING churros business on why they
have thought of the product’s concept is to attract the consumer, both the vegetarian but most
especially is the non-vegetarian and made them eat vegetables without them, noticing eat.
Also, since, most of the people, students in majority, loves eating sweets snacks or the so
called desserts which is a little unhealthy to the body so, since they don’t want to take that
sweet happiness of people away, they made a product where the sweetness can still be
indulged but at the same time, will be health beneficial since malunggay have several benefits
to the body. So, this is where the concept of malunggay churros were made where the
sweetness is balanced with healthy ingredient for the consumer’s benefit.

Production Process

1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, 2
tablespoons of vegetable oil, food coloring (Color of your choice) and moringa oleifera leaves
or malunggay leaves. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in flour until mixture forms a
ball.
2. Prepare the dough and make it flatten through the use of rolling pin. After that, use the
cookie cutter to make cute shapes such as star, heart, circle and the like (Shapes may vary).
3. Heat oil for frying in deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Put the
shaped dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
4. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture
or dip it in a chocolate mixture and put toppings on top.

All the necessities such as kitchen tools, ingredients, etc to the main branch will
be different from the materials to be used in the stall outside, like to the stall in the
Lyceum of the Philippines University- Laguna and it will all be labelled accordingly to
avoid misplacement and such.

 Ingredients shortage

There will always be an extra set of ingredients which will be brought also in the
stall and it will be ensured that it is complete and will be regularly checked especially the
expiration dates.

 The assigned staff for the stall has an emergency

There will always be an alternative employee or the so called “Karelyebo”


evertime there will be a stall located outside the main branch to avoid unnecessary
circumstances.

Distribution Logistics

The malungGALING Churros will just be located at the cafeteria of Lyceum of the
Philippines University- Laguna and the consumers which are the staffs, students, or people
inside the LPU campus will just go there then buy and go since it is just a handy snack food.
They will not be open or offer delivery inside the campus because it is just a small serving of
food and especially, cafeteria is really accessible by anyone without any difficulty.

Regulatory and other compliance issues

The malungGALING churros will be registered as a Sole proprietorship business.


Baranggay clearance as well as the Mayor’s permit will also be secured so that unnecessary
issues regarding illegality will be avoided. They will also comply to every health and safety
codes so that the safety of not just the employees but also of the consumers will also be
guaranteed. In addition, malungGALING churros will follow and obey all of the food service
rules and regulations althroughout their business operations.

Marketing Strategy

The malungGALING team will have printed advertisements but will not be pasted or
placed everywhere in the campus for it will just add up to the pollution and school’s waste so
in order to help in the environmental advocacy, the team will just placed it within their area,
just to make the consumers notice their product. They will also use the sales talk marketing
strategy or like the “barker” style for it is one of the most prevalent marketing strategy
especially when the business is just starting and it is an open stall. Someone will be assigned
to call for customers and try to encourage them to buy the malunggay flavored churros until it
spread to other customers through the use of word-of-mouth. Lastly, since they already have
an official website, they will also make social media pages promoting the malunggay churros
for it is also one of the most easy but effective way in making the products be well-known.

Sales Strategy

The sales strategy will emphasize that purchasing churros in the malungGALING
churros stall is very easy, accessible and will give a very satisfying experience especially to
their daily sweet cravings. They will focus in maintaining good quality and establishing a
strong identity. The sales effort will focus and work on having various flavors of churros in the
long run so that the consumers will not get tired or “magsasawa” to the available churros they
offer today.

In boosting the sales strategy, they will also work on excellent customer service and
