Teacher: Dr. Marites Mercado Title: Techniques and Strategies in Demo teaching Guest
Speaker: Ms. Jasmin Aurellano
Techniques and Strategies in Demo Teaching are one of the things done when entering the 4th year of the
Education course. This is also where we can hone our skills and knowledge when it comes to
demonstrations. This is also where we can practice how to communicate and how to make our
demonstration interactive if the children can learn anything from what we teach. This is also where we will
find out if our teaching is something they can learn. So, the demonstration becomes a guide for us to
become good and honed teachers for future students.
For me, the importance of Demo teaching is having techniques on how to handle them and how to teach
children correctly. So, the techniques of this are how do we teach so that our students can learn something,
aside from that how do we communicate with our future students. For me, the importance of having demo
teaching is that we are ready for our future students. There are many strategies on how we prepare our
teaching, such as having prepared for the requirements such as the Lesson plan, this is important in our
teaching, so before your demo, the Lesson plans are ready and there should be backup plans if ever naira
or lost like that the teaching will continue. Based on my experience, when I was teaching at our church, I
always had backup lesson plans for the children if ever there a situation happened. Second, I liked Ms.
Jasmin Aurellano's Prepare Ahead. I have a habit of preparing even if the deadline is far away because I
want everything to be settled and everything is ready. So, I'm preparing assignments, presentations, and
oral reports before the deadline.
Thirdly, making it simple and Interactive is one of the things I want to apply in my demo teaching. Because
for me the flow of demo teaching becomes natural if a teacher is simple and interactive. It means easy to
get along with, I remembered that I always prayed that my future teacher would be simple and interactive
because it gets my attention more when that teacher is easy to get along with and teach interactively. So,
my reflection on the webinar is that we are given some practical tips on how to teach children how to teach.
So, at first, it wasn't that good but because we have demo teaching here, we are trained to be good at
handling children. We especially hold the bridge and light for the children's path to their careers. From what
I have learned as a teacher, you must be SMART and be ACTIVE inside the school. Because this demo
teaching can be applied in our teaching. I also learned to be on time in passing and making plans,
worksheets, lesson plans, etc. Even that Body Movement I also learned so that the teaching can be
interactive, that's just among the few that I learned and I can apply as I am a future educator.
