❖ Overview
I am a focused, hardworking, and ambitious Chartered Civil Engineer with considerable experience undertaking engineering
studies, civil and structural design, project management, contract management and site supervision for a variety of maritime
projects internationally.
My experience relates to the delivery of projects in Ireland, UK, Nigeria, Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. I define
myself as an ideal candidate for a position requiring drive, responsibility, and challenge.
I am currently looking for a challenging role offering an opportunity to exercise technical, management and site supervision skills.
❖ Experience
Thames Tideway Tunnel, CHEEF - London, United Kingdom: This project involved the design of a twin wall cofferdam structure
and vessel loading/unloading facilities within the tidal River Thames to facilitate construction of culverts and in-river permanent
works. Assuming the role of Project Leader at an advanced stage of the project (on commencing work with Robert West), I led a
team of hydraulic, structural and geotechnical engineers to address issues identified from earlier design stages and develop a
detailed design for construction. The project was delivered in accordance with the Thames Tideway Tunnel project delivery
system as well as in compliance with UK Construction, Design, Management Regulations (H&S). Of particular challenge to this
project was facilitating watertight connections to the existing mass gravity river wall structures as well as facilitating and phasing
construction around an operational outfall.
Thames Tideway Tunnel, FALPS - London, United Kingdom: This project involved the design of a number of temporary works
structures including working platforms, steel gantries and hoarding. As Project Leader, I led a team of junior engineers to prepare
efficient designs in line with best practice for the various temporary works structures. Additionally, during construction I provided
technical support to address design change requests and resolve unforeseen issues.
Royal Wharf Pier, United Kingdom: This project involved providing tender design and consultancy support to BAM Nuttall for the
tender stage of the Royal Wharf Pier project. As Project Manager, I led a team to review/assess the exemplar tender design and
to identify risks in the design such as constructability issues as well as to identify key opportunities to reduce material
requirements and develop a more efficient arrangement. Subsequently, I led the development of an alternative tender design
which mitigated key risks (including: adverse pontoon response to vessel generated waves) and incorporated opportunities
(including: pile size rationalization and improved pile to pontoon connections as well as pile to fixed bridge connections with
regards to constructability). I also assisted BAM Nuttall with developing a construction methodology, the preparation of
scoping/brief documents to obtain quotations from subcontractors as well as with their technical submission documents.
Furthermore, I was response for engaging an Architect to input to tender design development, which included developing a
scope and consultancy agreement.
March 2017 – January 2018: Arup (London & Dublin)

Notable Projects (non-exhaustive):
Aberdeen Harbour Expansion Project, Aberdeen, United Kingdom: This project involved the design of two breakwaters, ~1600m
of open and closed quays as well as dredging works. As a Project Engineer, I led an investigation into propeller scour potential at
berths, led the design of a range of scour protection systems and revetment structures as well as preparing the associated works
specifications. Additionally, I led the mooring assessment for a range of cruise vessels, bulk carriers and OSVs for various design
conditions to determine design loadings to be considered by open quay structures.
Greenwich Peninsula Development Outfall, United Kingdom: This project involved the concept through to detailed design of a
stormwater outfall as well as obtaining all required marine works permits. As Project Engineer, I conducted a site walkover and
gap analysis which determined a requirement for site surveys to determine levels at the site as well as geotechnical conditions. I
prepared a scope and specification which were used by the Client to engage a contractor. Once sufficient information was
obtained, I cross-checked the outfall size requirement and prepared concept layout options for the client's selection of a
preferred option. I brought forward the client's preferred option for detailed design which required the design of gabion wall
retaining structure, gabion mattress scour protection and precast concrete pipes (1m dia) and adjacent manholes for
maintenance access and non-return tidal valves. I prepared material and works specifications (Concrete, Excavation/Backfilling
etc…) to accompany the design.
AMETS Wave Energy Test Site, Ireland: This project involved the inception through to implementation of a wave energy test site
in Belmullet, Ireland. As stand-in PM for post-planning phase of this project, I was responsible for coordinating interviews with
perspective wave energy device companies interested in using the facility, liaising with the client in relation to the next stages of
the project and developing a performance and technical specification for a substation building to be constructed at the site.
Slussen Floating Bridge, Sweden: This project involved undertaking a feasibility study to investigate the potential for a floating
solution to be adopted in place of a proposed pile supported pedestrian bridge (200m long). As Project Manager and Lead
Engineer, I was responsible for scope development, both coordinating and undertaking elements of the study as well as
managing the input from naval architects. A number of feasible concepts were developed following review of a number of
layouts, mooring options, buoyancy requirements, stability performance, construction costs, and likely construction issues.
Whiddy Island Jetty Term Maintenance Contract, Co Cork, Ireland: Project Manager responsible for advising on, scoping, and
drafting a contract and associated documents for the term maintenance contracts for the monitoring and maintenance of the
derelict Oil Import Terminal. The Oil Import Terminal consists of heavily damaged mooring/berthing dolphins, a jetty head and a
number of catwalks linking sections of the structure. As part of the specification developed, I devised an asset condition grading
methodology to be used as well as scoping/specifying dive and drone survey requirements in accordance with Irish H&S
regulations. Client requirements to facilitate a service term of 10 years, a facility for employer novation and annual rates
adjustment for inflation were of particularly challenging and addressed by developing comprehensive service information,
specifications and drafting bespoke contract conditions. The Term Maintenance contract has been successfully operated over the
last four years.
Fort Cumberland Coastal Protection, Portsmouth, UK: Project Manager and Lead Engineer responsible for undertaking an
independent check of a rock revetment structure to be used as part of an adjudication process. The independent check included
a review of all design drawings and specification documents to determine material quantities in-line with design requirements
under considerable time constraints. The expedient delivery and high quality of the independent check was of particular value to
the Contractor which subsequently led to further collaboration.

London City Cruise Terminal (Dredging), United Kingdom: This project involved the concept through to tender design of a floating
cruise terminal on the Thames for cruise vessels of up to 200m in length and 8m draught. Initially as Project Engineer and later as
Project Manager, I prepared FIDIC contract documents, specifications and the Preliminary Health & Safety Plan (Principal
Designer Role) for the circa 40,000m3 dredging works at the proposed cruise berth as well as undertaking a high-level review of
the Water and Waste Framework Directive Assessments (environmental) for the works.
Peruvian Wharf Reinstatement, United Kingdom: This project involved the condition and structural assessment of an existing
approx. 100m long reinforced concrete jetty and access bridge structure with respect to its reinstatement as an aggregate import
terminal. As Project Manager and Lead Engineer, I conducted a condition and structural assessment of the reinforced concrete
pile supported jetty to host a conveyor and crawler excavator. The initial condition survey included visual inspection and non-
intrusive testing of concrete (ferro-scanning). Due to information limitations and to confirm structural composition intrusive
testing including coring and breaking out works were also undertaken. I was responsible for scoping, specifying and obtaining
quotations for the intrusive testing/works as well as supervising the works on site. In addition to the works to the jetty, a new
dredge pocket was designed to facilitate the design vessel to remain at the berth in all tidal conditions.
Albert, Swedish and Comley Wharves Development, United Kingdom: This project involved developing the concept design of a
functional aggregate import jetty within a proposed new multi-purpose development. As Project Engineer, I led the initial
condition survey of the existing anchored sheet pile walls and subsequently undertook a geotechnical and structural assessment.
Identifying structural inadequacies in the sheet pile wall, I developed a cost-effective solution utilizing high- and low-level lateral
props from a proposed reinforced concrete jetty situated in front of the wall as part of the scheme. I also led the Navigation Risk
Assessment (NRA) to assess the navigational safety of the jetty during construction and operation, innovatively proposing the use
of Automatic Identification System and a signaling system (similar to traffic lights) to improve the visibility and awareness.

through to detailed design of the extension of Bankside Pier, Westminster Pier and Embankment Pier. As Project Engineer, I was
responsible for delivering the concept, planning and detailed design of the Bankside Pier Extension. The extension consisted of
20m by 6m steel box pontoon restrained by monopiles. Strengthening works to the existing pier pontoon and dolphin supports
were required following identification of capacity issues associated with the existing arrangement.
Eon Floating CTV Berths, United Kingdom: This project involved the concept through to detailed design of 4 No. new Crew
Transfer Vessel berths within the Fish Docks, Grimsby. For this project I assist with the design of the pile restrained reinforced
concrete arrangement as well as undertaking an assessment of an existing jetty structure for the proposed installation of a
40,000-liter fuel tank. On establishing the jetty deck had insufficient capacity for the fuel tank load, I developed a grillage
structure design which was implemented to redistribute the loading to pile support locations.
Dong Energy Floating CTV Berths Assessment, United Kingdom: This project involved the condition survey of approx. 150m of
heavy duty reinforced concrete pontoons deployed in Barrow-in-Furness, followed by the structural assessment of the
arrangement for use by larger Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV). As PM and Lead Engineer, I undertook the condition survey and
structural assessment establishing that the system was adequate for the new design vessels albeit with a reduced anticipated
design life for pontoon-to-pontoon hinge connections due to fatigue.
Royal Wharf Pier Feasibility Study, United Kingdom: This project involved undertaking a feasibility study for a new passenger ferry
terminal on the Thames at Royal Wharf. As PM, I led a small team to identify a suitable location, layout, orientation, and scheme
design for the Royal Wharf Pier in line with both the requirement of likely vessel operators and the client.

Quantities for the reinforced concrete jetty deck supported on reinforced concrete piles as well as assisting the site team
throughout construction.
St George Wharf Dredging, London, United Kingdom: This project involved dredging works to an existing River-bus berth on the
River Thames. For this project I undertook a review of potential dredging methodologies and associated cost estimates, prepared
and managed consent application, prepared tender documents and an evaluation of the received tender submissions for the
client. Subsequently I managed the NEC3 short form contract (Project Manager & Supervisor) and supervised the dredging works.
Runcorn Jetty, United Kingdom: This project involved preparing a tender design for costing of a new chemical export terminal
(liquid bulk) to be located at Runcorn on the Manchester Ship Canal. As Project Engineer, I initially developed a dredge pocket
layout and subsequently an associated combi-wall and pile supported jetty head (for a marine loading arm) design for costing. I
also prepared a tender level pipe bridge and associated pier arrangements. Additionally, undertook a high-level mooring and
berthing analysis (excel spreadsheet) establishing that the highest mooring loads were likely to be as a result of passing vessels
due to limited separation distances between the berth and navigation channel.
Gravesend Pier, United Kingdom: This project involved the condition and structural survey of Gravesend Pier, the oldest cast iron
pier in the UK. For this project I undertook the condition survey and subsequently led the structural assessment of the pier to
establish its adequacy for a moderately increased surcharge loading. Having noted several locations of damage and deterioration
during the survey (some of which were to original cast iron elements), I also prepared a repair schedule, concept design options
(where required, in conjunction with specialist cast-iron specialists) as well as a cost and programme estimate for the works.
Wandsworth Riverside Quarter, United Kingdom: This project involved the provision of general marine consultancy advice and
assistance as part of a multidisciplinary team for the development of Wandworth Riverside Quarter. Specific work packages
included applying for marine works licenses/permits (several from Port of London), scoping/defining river wall upgrade works to
comply with statutory requirements and developing a layout for a new passenger ferry pier adjacent to the development. For this
project, I represented the company at meetings, advised on marine matters, prepared license/permit applications and developed
scheme designs for river wall upgrades as well as concept layouts and cost estimates for the proposed passenger ferry pier.
Thames Tideway Ship Impact Assessment, United Kingdom: This project involved a third-party review of a Ship Impact
Assessment for the proposed Thames Tideway Tunnel shaft sites in order to determine its validity at high level. As Project
Engineer, I reviewed methodologies, codes of practice (AASGTO) and base data used. I undertook a calculation-based assessment
for one of the shaft sites, achieving comparable results. I prepared a list of comments and recommended alterations to address
potential oversights, including overly conservative probabilities for vessel aberrance due to engine failure.

preparation of works specifications for both the enabling works and fabrication of the new RoRo linkspan.
Queens Wharf, United Kingdom: This project involved the assessment of existing mass gravity concrete and brickwork quay walls
for use within the foundations of a new residential and commercial development. For this project I assisted with the initial
condition survey and subsequently undertook the structural and geotechnical (sliding, overturning, and bearing) assessment of
the quay walls for various proposed demolition/construction stages. I also supervised site investigations including coring, ferro
scanning and a GPR survey to establish unknown dimensions (thickness) for sections of the quay wall.
Manchester Ship Canal Scour Damage, United Kingdom: This project involved the review and assessment of noted damage to a
sluice and revetment structure in order to determine/confirm the cause and develop an appropriate repair concept. For this
project I analyzed historic river flow and rainfall data as well as sluice operation to establish that the noted damage was as a
result of scour due to excessively high-water flow. I also prepared concept options (sheet pile wall, revetment, concrete mattress)
to repair/replace the noted damage considering the more onerous design conditions established.
Lots Ait Marina Safety Audit: This project involved undertaking a safety Audit of Lots Ait Marina on the River Thames to satisfy
licensing stipulations from Statutory Authorities. For this project I assisted in conducting the audit which reviewed the general
