ZED Assessment

The ZED Site Assessment process is a comprehensive physical

assessment & evaluation of the existing systems and processes of the
applicant MSME. The process will take about 4 man-days and will be
conducted by trained and qualified assessors from accredited ZED
rating agencies.

Typically, 2 assessors will participate in this process and

assess/evaluate the existing systems and processes of the
manufacturing unit on the parameters selected during the online self-
assessment stage and collect additional relevant evidences as
applicable. Their assessment report will be evaluated by the NMIU
which will result in a Certification as appropriate.
Medical Devices Services (Notified Body)
As per G.S.R. 78(E) MDR 2017; BSCIC Certifications Pvt. Ltd. has been designated as Notified
Body for Class A and Class B Medical Devices from Central Drugs Standard Control
Organization(CDSCO), New Delhi, India.

“Notified” means notified in the official gazette by the central government.

“Notified Body” means a body corporate or other legal entity, registered under rule 13 as a body
competent to carry out the audit of manufacturing site, assessment, and verification of specified
category of medical devices for establishing conformity with standards.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (“CDSCO”), in a notice dated 4th May 2018, has
announced the notified bodies registered with it to carry out audit of a manufacturing site of Class A
or Class B of medical devices. As per Rule 13 of the Medical Devices Rules, 2017 an accredited
notified body is required to register with the Central Licensing Authority if it intends to carry out audit
of a manufacturing site of Class A or Class B of medical devices.

An accredited Notified Body will be competent to carry out audit of manufacturing sites of Class A
and Class B medical devices, to check whether they conform with the Quality Management System
and other applicable standards as advised by the State Licensing Authority.
Medical Devices Services (Notified Body)
The Drugs Controller General of India under the Rules, states that only the Notified bodies
can Audit companies that are into manufacturing of medical devices, thus no other individual/
institution/ organization/party apart from the notified bodies are allowed to audit the
manufacturing sites of Medical Device manufacturers. “The new set of Medical Devices Rules
2017, separating medical device industry from the pharmaceutical sector, has taken effect
from January 2018. The Medical Devices Rules will regulate all aspects and activities
pertaining to medical devices such as manufacture, sale & distribution, imports & exports,
labeling, conducting of clinical trials, registration of laboratories for carrying out tests and
recall of devices.”

Medical Devices have been classified into four categories based on their risk type – Class A,
B, C and D. Class A and B are low risk devices whereas C and D classified as higher risk
products. For approvals and licensing in devices falling under categories C & D, Central
Government will be directly involved.

As a Notified Body by CDSCO, India will undertake on-site audit of the Quality Management
Systems of the Medical Device Manufacturers of Class A and Class B categories, and may,
on a case-to-case basis, be called upon to help in the verification and assessment of Class C
and Class D medical devices”
Third Party Food Safety Audit (FSSAI)
Inspecting and auditing food businesses is a humongous task, hence in order to cultivate and foster
the growth of compliance culture FSSAI is enabling compliance through Auditing Agencies. While
emphasizing on self-compliance by the food businesses, to address the need to monitor such
compliance, FSSAI is envisaging introducing Audit of the food companies by FSSAI Recognized
Auditing Agencies. This Food Safety and Standards (Food Safety Auditing) Regulations, 2018
includes the Procedure for recognition of Auditing Agencies, Procedure for
Renewal/Cancellation/Suspension of recognition, Terms and conditions of recognition, auditing
procedure, Duties of auditors, Audit reporting and audit monitoring system.

Selected Food Categories on the basis of their risk classification will be subject to mandatory food
safety Auditing. Food Businesses falling under such category would be required to get their
businesses timely audited by recognized Auditing Agencies on their own. Food businesses which
are not subject to mandatory auditing can also voluntarily opt for Auditing of their businesses.
Food Businesses having satisfactory audits may be subjected to less frequent inspection by Central
or State licensing authorities. Hence, Third party Audits will reduce the burden on the regulatory
inspection conducted by Central or State Licensing Authorities and also encourage the efficient self-
compliance by the food businesses. These regulations will come into force on the date of their
publication in the gazette of India.
WASH Scheme (QCI)
The post-virus business landscape will clearly include a larger focus on health, safety and
hygiene conditions of employees, customers and public at large. India’s decision to start
opening up the economy in a staggered manner, while laudable, requires a plan to make sure
that exceptions are minimized, and recurrences of spread are strategically isolated. The
positives of the lockdown cannot be afforded to be negated and therefore, there is a need to
bring specific standards/protocols for the business organizations, institutions etc. to ensure
that they are able to operate safely with little or no instances of recurrence. This requires a
few imperative priorities for the organizations/institutions as mentioned below:
• Ensuring safe operations and workplace for safeguarding health and safety of employees,
customers and public.
• Complying with all new COVID-19 related requirements from regulatory/health authorities
and/or other Government bodies.
• Ensuring business continuity in operations to serve customers and protect businesses.

For the benefit of citizens and industry, QCI, along with industry stakeholders, has

developed a harmonized standard “Workplace Assessment for Safety and Hygiene” (WASH)”
to help the organizations assess their preparedness to restart and run their operations safely.
WASH Scheme (QCI)

This standard is applicable for assessment at any workplace which has been allowed to
operate.

The assessment can be done as an on-site assessment or remotely through a virtual system
of assessment by trained assessors. The assessment report generated will provide the
applicant with an objective assessment of the safety and hygiene measures undertaken by
them to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 infection.
SAATHI ASSESSMENT (QCI)
SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness and training for Hospitality Industry), a scheme by
QCI, provides the hospitality industries (Hotels with in-house restaurants, Hotels without in-house
restaurants, B&B / Home stay / Farm stay and independent restaurants) to demonstrate relevant
due diligence of their workplace either before restarting the operations or during operations.
An organization is responsible for the occupational health and safety of workers and other
stakeholders who can be affected by its activities during the COVID-19 Pandemic situation. This
responsibility includes promoting and protecting their physical and mental health.
The adoption of this National Protocol is intended to enable an organization to provide a safe and
healthy workplace, prevent work-related ill health, and continually improve its COVID-19 prevention
and mitigation protocol.
The purpose of COVID-19 Protocol is to provide a framework for managing risks mainly related to
health and hygiene in hospitality industries.
The aim and intended outcomes of this Protocol is to prevent work related ill health to workers,
visitors and other service providers and to provide safe and healthy workplaces; consequently, it is
critically important for the organization to eliminate hazards and minimize COVID-19 related Health
& Hygiene (H&H) risks by taking effective preventive and protective measures.
SAATHI ASSESSMENT (QCI)

This protocol can be used by Hotels with in-house restaurants, Hotels without in-house
restaurants, B&B / Homestay / farm stay and independent restaurants.
This Scheme Document contains requirements that can be used by an organization to
implement an H&H management tool and to assess conformity.
BSCIC Assessors have experience in Assessments for Awareness and training for
Hospitality Industries and are ready to Perform your Assessments for SAATHI COVID-
19 protocol.
