ATTENTIONS BEFORE USING
• JRC cannot accept responsibility for any loss due to incorrect operation, malfunction, and other causes
except product guarantee condition and liability by law.

• There is possibility that some functions of the terminal may not operate correctly depend on the
hardware and software version of equipment connected to the terminal. Confirm your equipment
version before connection with the dealer or agent you purchased or JRC branches.

• Your communication data are transmitted via Inmarsat system and other global communications system,
so unusually some errors may occur in communication theory same as the landlines.
You are recommended to backup for your important data.

• Usually, digital scrambling of Inmarsat system protects your communication data privacy. However
you are recommended to understand that your communication data might be intercepted by special
technology and unauthorized access in the communication theory.

• Specifications of JUE-95LT and its accessories may change without notice for improvement.

v
CAUTIONS DURING INSTALLATION

                DANGER
Do not touch any internal parts with your hands or tools to avoid danger of electronic shock.

The lithium battery is built into JUE-95LT (EME). Do not short-circuited of the terminal,
do not give the high impact, and wet it to water.
There is danger of exploding.

CAUTIONS DURING INSTALLATION

WARNING
Do not bring JUE-95LT (EME) close to the fire, or put it in the fire. It causes the explosion,
generation of heat, and the ignition of a built-in lithium battery.

Do not approach the JUE-95LT (EME) while transmitting. It transmits microwave and
strong microwave might be cause injury.

If a foreign substances, such as metal fragment, water, liquid and etc., are get into your
JUE-95LT, turn off the power, and contact the agent you purchased or JRC branches.
Continuous operation may cause fire, electrical shock or malfunction.

Ask maintenance and the adjustment of JUE-95LT internal equipment to our sales department
or nearest branch office.

Do not turn on the terminal under the primary power except the specific voltage (mentioned
below). The primary power except the specific voltage may cause fire, electrical shock or
malfunction.

࣭DC24V +30㸣, -20㸣

࣭AC100V㹼240V (When EXT PSU, NBD-577C is used)
࣭AC100V㹼220V(s10%)(When EXT PSU, NBD-843A is used)

Do not check or repair the internal equipment of JUE-95LT by yourself.

Any electrical work by any person other than our specialized maintenance persons may cause
fire or abnormal operation of this equipment or electrical shock for you. This equipment
meets the technical standard of the ministry of Post and Telecommunication of Japan.

Do not adjust the internal circuit or exchange the parts because the internal circuit is adjusted
strictly. When an abnormal operation is found, please contact to out sales department or
nearest branch office.

Fixing EME to the mounting adapter should be done on a deck or in a cabin before climbing
to a mast. When parts or apparatuses fall and it strike the human body, it causes the injury.

Do not take apart, and do not remodel the equipment. It causes a fire, the electric shock,
and the breakdown.

vi
CAUTIONS DURING INSTALLATION

CAUTION
Before operating JUE-95LT, read the operation manual carefully.
Inappropriate procedure may cause incorrect operation or malfunction.

<<EME>>
Do not give mechanical shock and force, because all units of EME are precision
instrument. Unwanted shock and force may cause malfunction.

Do not paint radome. Painting of radome may cause decrease of the communication quality.

Ask our agency or office to abandon JUE-95LT (EME). When the lithium battery is
short-circuited, receives the impact or it gets wet because of water, it causes generation of
heat, the explosion, and the ignition if this is not defended.

1 INTRODUCTION

1-1 Outlines
This manual explains Installation procedure of Inmarsat mini-C Satellites communications Mobile Earth
Station (MES)

The JUE-95LT (MES) is composed of EME (Externally Mounted Equipment), (IME) Internally
Mounted Equipment, PSU (Power Supply Unit), and EME-IME Coaxial cable.

1-2 Unpacking and visual inspection

At the time of unpacking, visual inspection should be done with checking any possible damage of
transportation(refer to [1-4 Components] and [1-6 Installation parts and tools] ), and also checking any
missing part in accordance with supplied parts list for installation as shown in Table 1-6-1.

If there is damage or missing part, file the claim immediately.

2 INSTALLATION PLAN

2-1 EME
When the EME is installed in higher position to avoid the physical obstruction, the EME may be often
exposed to the severe vibration condition. Therefore, special attention should be paid in such an installation
site to reduce vibrations.

NOTE
Follow the matters mentioned below to avoid damage of EME and malfunction of JUE-75/85/95 Series.

࣭EME should be installed 5m or more away from MF/HF antenna.

࣭EME should be installed 4m or more away from VHF and Satellite Navigator antenna.

࣭EME should be installed 0.3]m or more away from Magnet Compass.

࣭EME should be installed 2m or more away from the rotating area of radar scanner.

࣭EME should be installed with 2.5m or more away from each other, when two sets of EME of Inmarsat-C
(JUE-75A/C, JUE-85, 95SA, 95VM and 95LT) are equipped in same ship.

࣭EME should be installed 5m or more away from Inmarsat Fleet and FBB ADE to avoid degraded receiver
performance by Inmarsat-C JUE-85/87/95 EME transmitting.

࣭EME should be installed avoiding heat and smoke of funnel and much dust.

࣭EME should be installed avoiding sever vibration and shock.

2-1
2-2 Support structure
Support structure should be designed on the basis of load specification.

2-2-1 Load specification and basic design

Support structure should be designed on the basis of load specification shown in Fig.2-2-1-1.

Correct the actual, maximum bend moment, with changing the height of installation pole.
Strength and the rigidity against a mass of EME, maximum bending moment and vibration are required of
the position where EME is being installed.

Allowable vibration level is 1.0G (980 gal) or less at the top of installation pole. The level is easily known
by Fig. 2-2-1-2.

Check the vibration level on sea trial as much as possible.

NOTE

Follow below outlined matters to avoid damage of cable and malfunction of equipment.

• Avoid cutting off the EME-IME Coaxial cable unnecessary. Coil and secure the coaxial cable
in convenient compartment such as behind the Main Unit or bulkhead.

• Take care not to damage the connectors and the corrosion resistant sheath of cable.

• Do not pull the cable by gripping connector plug only.

(1) The connector plugs installed on both coaxial ends are adaptable to connector receptacles of either EME
or IME.

(2) The recommended minimum-bending radius is 46mm.

3-2
3-2-1 Preparation for Coaxial cable connector

3-3 EME

                DANGER
The lithium battery is built into JUE-95LT (EME). Do not short-circuited of the terminal, do
not give the high impact, and wet it to water.
There is danger of exploding.

WARNING
Fixing EME to the mounting adapter should be done on a deck or in a cabin before
climbing to a mast. When parts or apparatuses fall and it strike the human body, it
causes the injury.

CAUTION
<<EME>>
Do not give mechanical shock and force, because all units of EME is precision
instrument. Unwanted shock and force may cause malfunction.

Do not paint radome. Painting of radome may cause decrease of the communication quality.

Longevity/ exchange time of the consumption (lithium battery)

The longevity of Lithium battery of inner EME is approximately 10years.

However, longevity might be shorten depends on customer’s usage environment.
Contact the dealer or agent from which you purchased the device or one of our branches, marketing
offices, and representative offices when the battery exchange is needed.

There is no influence in other telecommunication functions though the reception message and the call log, etc.
cannot be preserved in the power discontinuity, when the capacity of the lithium battery is lost.
