Subject: Statement of Purpose for 1 year Ontario College Graduate Certificate Mobile
Application Development program
Dear Sir/Madam,
I believe the evolution of technology had a major impact in our societies as well as in our daily lives.
Nowadays enormous prospects are being delivered by mobile application technologies which plays an
important role in human life. The accession to hospitality, education, transportation etc. has been
simplified due to mobile application technology. Our lives have improved significantly thanks to the
suitability and efficiency provided by this technology. There used to be a time when implementing a
simple task like booking a taxi would take a lot of our time. Thanks to mobile application technology
like Uber, Lyft etc. we can save a lot of time and energy to do what we want to.

With a great pleasure I would like to introduce myself as Arif Abdullah Azmi. I was born on June 19,
1990. My Father’s name is Abdullah Sarker & Mother’s name is Afroza Khan Rosy. I am very much
dedicated and ambitious student who is willing to study 1 year Ontario Graduate Certificate program in
Mobile Application Development at Canadore College, Toronto, Canada September 2019. Through this
statement of purpose, I intend to disclose my personal, educational background, career goal that I have
set for the specific reasons to study at Canadore College, Canada.

I have studied at The Aga Khan School, Dhaka from where I have successfully completed my O Level
Examination in 2007, A Level Examination in 2010 under British Council as a private candidate. NCC
Level 4 and 5 Diploma in Computing from Daffodil International Academy. Finally, I have completed
Bsc. Hons in Business Information Technology from University of Greenwich (a collaborative
programme under Daffodil International Academy) in 2016. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I
worked as a Management Information System (MIS) Officer at APS Group, Dhaka in 2016, where I
had to manage the daily inventory system of the company. I have also worked as Microsoft C #
ASP.NET Trainer at IT Bangla Ltd. Dhaka where I had to conduct classes teaching Microsoft’s web
technologies to students. Later I have worked as an IT Manager at a Spanish based multinational
company named Global Labels Bangladesh Ltd where I had to develop and work on their ERP systems.

I have achieved certification on Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD). I want to return to
academic study and undertake a graduate program in Mobile Application Development at the Canadore
College. I have received an overall band score of 7.0 in my IELTS. I would like to inform you that I
have successfully received an offer letter from Canadore College to study this course. I already paid
7284.49 CAD as my first semester tuition fee. My study will start September 2019.

I have done an adequate amount of research on the course over the internet to help me, before picking
this as my main course.
Mobile development is the production of application software for devices such as phones, tablets etc.
Mobile development is an increasingly popular option for students studying and working in the IT
field. The near universal presence of smartphones, the ease with which one can develop for smartphone
platforms, and the revenue generated from developing applications makes mobile development a
lucrative field for international students around the world. This field is exploding and skilled app
developers are in high demand.
New applications are being created daily for games, maps, medical purpose, banks, media outlets etc.
Most of the tools needed for mobile development are free and can be used to make a salable program.
During my undergraduate studies my interests became more focused. Although I have studied subjects
like Database Engineering, System Analysis, Object Oriented Programming with Java, Web
Programming with PHP, it was programming that really captured my interest.
As Bangladesh is attracting more investment from abroad in the field of technology, having this
qualification under my possession would be an advantage to me in so many ways. Firstly, it will create
better career opportunities for me in IT firms, Multinational Company’s IT sector and Private sector in
my country. Most of the reputed company’s top leading positions are driven by the Mobile Application
developers who are earning very handsome salaries.
Compare the difference between Bangladesh and Canadian degree in this subject?

There are a number of good public universities in Bangladesh where seats and resources are limited.
Currently, there aren’t any degree programs available in mobile application development in my country.
It is needless to say Mobile Application Development is one of the best 1 year graduate degrees for
anyone who seek to be skilled in mobile applications development sector. This subject grabbed my
attention and I realize that no other qualification would be more comprehensive and give me an in-
depth knowledge than this. I believe this course will give me an experience of studying in a spectacular
environment for research and practical based study, as Canadore College is a well renowned public
college in Canada which provides choices for connecting people, education as well as employment
through leadership and innovation. This degree would definitely enrich my professional career as a
higher education from a public college/university is highly demanded in my country.
Future prospect of this subject
In terms of economy Bangladesh has developed a lot. Mostly the growth comes from the service sector.
The IT sector is still developing as Bangladesh is moving itself from a human based system into a more
digital based system. Therefore, right now more skilled IT professionals with better higher education is
a must need requirement in Bangladesh.
Most of the companies are developing mobile based applications based on consumer needs, creating a
new wave in the IT industry. A large part of this industry provides mobile based business application
solutions including accounting software, human resource software, office management and security
solutions, and inventory management systems to the private sector, as well as providing services to
banks and other financial sectors. The impressive trends in software exports in recent years have also
encouraged IT professionals. Therefore, I believe by completing a graduate degree in mobile
application development from Canada will make me more skilled and help me get a good job with
decent salary in the domestic market, as the demand for higher education is very much higher in my
country.

Even though the cost of study in Canada is quite high but it will not be a problem for me as my father
will be able to bear all my expenses. He willingly supports me for my study in Canada. He can afford
whole course fee from the rental income from our house. Therefore, studying in Canada is the best
option for me.

I have very strong attachment with my family. I would like to complete my study and come back to my
home country, to live with my parents. Both my elder brother and my mother have also studied in
Australia and after the completion of their studies they have returned to Bangladesh. Both of them
encouraged me to study in Canada as they have studied abroad in an environment which is well
established compared to the educational institutions in my country. In comparison to Bangladesh the
education system abroad is very much different where study is done through more assignments with
very less written exam, where in Bangladesh it’s just the opposite. Therefore, my family has
encouraged me to get a foreign degree in order to establish a successful future and develop my
professional career in Bangladesh.

Finally, I have explained my study plan and statement of purpose towards you. I hope you will take this
