Developmental Activities

Activity. I Imagine it
To give you an idea about our topics for
today’s lesson, let us do the first activity
named Imagine it, wherein we will pick
10 students and divide them into two
groups. After that, I will flash a word.
Then, 4 of the students will draw in the
bond paper to help the last person to
identify the word I flashed based on the
drawing on the bond paper. Every 4
seconds the person will stop drawing in
it. (The students will participate in the said
activity.)

Now let’s begin the activity.

Good job, class! You did great. Also, for

you to finish first the second activity for
today’s session. Don’t worry because
this will be a fun activity.

or actresses that will act. Then, two will
guess the words that is being act. (Students will raise their hands and teacher
will choose 4)
Now, I need 4 volunteer students who
will stand up and guess.

(5 minutes later)

The teacher will flash the words Mango, (Students will start doing the activity)
Masskara, Talong, Bangus, Pakwan,
Asin.
I believe some got the answers in their
first try and some with a help of their
classmates.
(The students applauds to congratulate
themselves getting the correct answers)

Good job, class!

(The teacher applauds to congratulate
the students for getting the correct
answers.)

D. EXPLAIN

Last quarter in health, we discussed the

prevention of substance use and abuse.
Now, we will proceed to injury
prevention, safety and first aid. Mainly
first aid.

We will explain those words you

completed and guessed. Are you
following?

Yes, Sir!
(PowerPoint Presentation will be shown
then theteacher will explain the
following)

First Aid, an immediate and temporary

care given to a person who suddenly gets
ill or injured.

It includes self-help and home care if

medical assistance is not available or
delayed.

First aid can bridge a difference between

life and death in extreme cases.

However, we must know the limits of

the first aid we can give because
improper first aid cab actually do more
harm than good in some instances.
Let me ask you class, when a person gets
their finger cut off. Do you do CPR or
chest pump?

No, because that is not the appropriate No, Sir!

first aid for that kind of injury.

In First aid we need to know four things,

The Roles of First Aid, Objectives of
First Aid, Characteristics of A Good
First Aider, and Principles of First Aid.

First, we have;

Roles of First Aid;

1. It is a bridge that fills the gap between

the victim and the physician.
2. It is not intended to compete with or
take the place of the services of the
physician.
3. It ends when the services of the
physician begins.

Class, always remember first aiders

could never take the role of the
physician. Because the first aiders are
sometimes civilians or just
knowledgeable in preventive measures.
Some are unlicensed that’s why we
should never take the role of the
physicians. Do you understand?

Objectives of First Aid;

1. To save lives Yes, Sir!

2, To prolong lives
3.To alleviate suffering
4. To prevent further injury
These are the words earlier on the
activity. These are the objectives.
Personally, do you think first aiders are
important?

(The teacher picks one of the students

who raised their hand)

Correct!
Yes, Sir! Because they could save lives and
prolong lives.

(The teacher picks another one of the

students who raised their hand)

Yes, Sir! Because they could cure the

injured one.

Okay, so always remember class. The

job of a first aider is not to cure. It is just
to prevent making the situation more
serious or malignant. Do you
understand?

Characteristics of a Good First Aider; Yes, Sir!

1. Gentle-does not cause pain and panic.

2. Observant-notices all signs
3. Resourceful-makes the best use of
things at hand.
4. Tactful-does not frighten the victim
5. Sympathetic-comforts and reassures
the victim.

These are characteristics of a good first

aider. So class, pretend you’re the first
aider, why should you be gentle and
should not cause panic and pain to the
victim and those around them.

(The teacher picks one of the students.)

Mr. Prince, do you have any idea?

Sir, we should be gentle and should not

cause panic and pain to the victim and those
Exactly! around them. Because these would make
the situation of the victim worst and could
(The teacher picks another one of the be the cause of their death.
students.)

Why should a first aider be resourceful?

Ms. Ann, can I hear your opinion?

Correct! Yes, Sir. In my opinion, first aiders should

be resourceful. Because accidents may
Now, we move on to the next one. happen anytime and anywhere.

Principles of First Aid;

(Dos in Giving First Aid)

1. DO stay calm.
2. DO reassure and comfort the victim
3. DO check for a medical bracelet
indicating condition, such as epilepsy or
diabetes.
4. DO loosen any tight clothing.
5. DO keep the victim covered to reduce
shock.

(Don’ts in Giving First Aid)

1. DON’T give food and drink to an

unconscious person.
2. DON’T move an injured person
unless you need to place him/her in the
recovery position.
As a first aider, you yourself should be
calm. If you panic the victim and those
around him would panic also. Always
reassure and comfort the victim, so they
would not panic. Check a medical
bracelet. Because these would give you a
clear idea on what is the condition of the
patient. And what appropriate first aid
technique you’re going to perform.
Loosen the tight clothing, so the victim
can breathe properly. Keep the victim
covered to reduce shock, this way you
could prevent external factors that could
worsen the condition of the victim. Do
you understand? Are you still following?

So class, today what are the 4 things we

discussed about first aid again? Yes, Sir!

(Students answers in chorus)

The Roles of First Aid, Objectives of First
Aid, Characteristics of A Good First Aider,
and Principles of First Aid.
Okay, now we will test what you learned.
We will have an activity,

E. ELABORATE
Activity 1. Show Me in A minute
Directions: Create a short role play that
would demonstrate the characteristics of
a first aider and the principles of first
aid.

(The teacher will group the students by

row horizontally.)

(The teacher will give 5 minutes to let

them prepare.)

(The teacher will give them a minute to

perform their role play.) (The students will prepare.)

(The teacher will watch the group one by

one)
(The students will show their role play.)
