I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text
STANDARDS types serve as means of enhancing the self; also
how to use processing, assessing, summarizing information, word derivation and formation
strategies, appropriate word order,
punctuation marks and interjections to enable him/her to participate actively in a speech
choir.

B. PERFORMANCE The learner actively participates in a speech choir through using effective verbal and non-
STANDARDS verbal strategies based on the following criteria:
Focus, Voice, Delivery, Facial Expressions, Body Movements/ Gestures and Audience
Contact.

C. LEARNING Employ the appropriate communicative styles for various situations (intimate, casual,
COMPETENCIES conversational, consultative, frozen)

D. OBJECTIVES  Identify types of communicative styles used in the given situations.


 Write a short dialogue or conversation using casual and consultative communicative
style.
 Value the significance of knowing the appropriate communication to a certain
situation.

Process Questions:
1. Do you know who’s in the picture?
2. If you are given the chance to talk with these people how are you going to talk with them?
3. Why are you going to talk with the President in that way? …with Vice Ganda in that way?
ANALYSIS In a particular social setting or purpose, we use Formal and Informal ways. We talk
(3 minutes) Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in a formal way because he is our President. Hence, we can also talk
in an informal way to Vice Ganda because he is a comedian.

For you to be able to know our topic for today. I will give a clue through a Game. This game
is entitled “DECODING”

ABSTRACTION What is Communicative Style? Do you have any idea about it?
(20 minutes) Let’s connect it first to your Values Education subject.
In values education, communicative styles play a crucial role in shaping your
understanding, attitudes, and behavior towards moral and ethical values. Effective
communication styles can enhance your engagement, promote critical thinking, and foster
the development of responsible and compassionate individuals.
Likewise in English, we also use Communicative Styles.

Lesson Proper:
COMMUNICATIVE STYLE means…
• the form of language that the speaker uses which is characterized by the degree of
formality
•a speaker uses different speech styles according to the given situations, place, or persons
involved
Discuss the 5 types of Communicative styles.

PRACTICE DRILLS:
Mechanics:
Group the class into two.
Let each group have an animal sound.
If they sound.know the answer, give them the Go-signal before they can produce their
sound.

Identify whether the following situation is intimate, casual,conversational,consultative, or


frozen.

4. Talking with your bestfriend about the classmates you disliked usig codenames

The class will be grouped into four.


Each group will present a one-minute role play showing a sample situation in which the different
Communicative style is used. They can choose from the list below.
The other group will identify the type of communicative style used in in the presentation.
They will be graded according to the criteria given.

Use the following situations:

3. talking to a new friend
4. inquiring at the library
5. delivering news reports
6.asking something from your neighbor
7. talking to your groupmates
8. delivering a valedictory address
9. talking and laughing about memorable experiences
