researchers have proposed various other
dimensions, or traits, of personality

(2)Self-esteem
(3)Self-efficacy
(4)Proactive personality
Self monitoring
Personality trait that captures differences in the extent to which
people control the image they present to others in social situations
High self monitoring
√ motivated and skilled at adapting to the expectations of the
situation
√ Flexible adjust behavior to the situation and the behaviors to
others

Low self monitoring


√ people are less likely to change their behavior to fit in

(1) Job performance
• Performance of duties listed in an employee’s job description,
• Measures of job performance include quality and quantity of work performed
by the employee
• The accuracy and speed with which the job is performed,
and the overall effectiveness of the person on the job

(2) Organizational citizenship


• Voluntary behaviors employees perform to help others and benefit the
organization
• The motivation-behavior link
(3) Absenteeism
• Unscheduled absences from work
• Costly to companies (Eg: reduce productivity,
increase medical bills

(4) Turnover
• Employee’s leaving an organization.
• Costly to organization (Eg: reduce productivity, poor customer service
Highly committed, engaged, good OBC, positive attitudes

Disengaged from their jobs and rarely go beyond the


minimum that is expected of them
