ABSTRACT

This research examined the impact of employee participation in decision


making using Ministry of Works, Uyo as a case study, The researcher
made use of survey research design and convenience sampling
technique was used to select fifty (50) respondents as sample size for
the study. The study revealed that the impact of employee participation
in decision making include the following: It leads to higher productivity,
Job satisfaction, It enhances performance, it also revealed that the way
employee participates in decision making includes: Collective bargaining,
idea Generation, group discussion. It also revealed that the factors that
influence employees' participation in decision making include: Views and
tradition of an organization, the size of the working unit in an
organization, Pressure time. The study also revealed that the ways
employees participate in decision making leads: Potential innovations,
Effective Management, Increased sale. It was recommended that
Organizations should provide a good climate condition for effective
employee participation in decision making and as a way of encouraging
effective employee participation in decision-making the manager must
operate a two-way communication flow.
