1. INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

Psychology makes it easier to understand how humans think and

behave and thus helps us to improve our communication skills. With the
help of psychology, people can comprehend gestures and actions which
would make communication even easier and thus helps us to build strong
relationships with other people. One can gain self-confidence by learning
and knowing more about oneself and their personality by studying
psychology. This helps the person to know his/her weaknesses and enables
them to build on them. Psychology helps one to gain insights into other
people’s behaviour.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

Psychology helps you to build a platform for personal growth and

development. You naturally become more aware of your own thoughts
and beliefs, how you see yourself, and how these cognitions influence your
everyday life. You’re therefore better equipped to develop strategies and
habits that lead you towards greater life success. Your problem-solving
skills are improved by studying psychology. Studying psychology trains
you to consider problems from different perspectives, which is vital for
finding the most effective and beneficial solutions. Being exposed to
scientific principles in psychology helps you to think, question, and reason
like a scientist. Your analytical and reasoning skills will be strengthened.
Learning psychology also offers an advantage as a behavioural trainer,
whether you want to train your dog, child, spouse or even yourself.
People having a psychological idea would stand a better chance to build
friendships with their co-workers.
2. PERSONALITY AND MEMORY.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

Personality heavily influences our emotions, thoughts, and

memories. The salience of our emotional experiences, the valence of
emotional memories we recall, and how we dwell on these memories are
influenced by the unique characteristics that define us as individuals.
Evidence suggests that emotion have a critical impact on cognition and a
high variability of these effects between individuals with different
personality traits. Hence, emotions can drastically affect the personality
traits. It is well established that emotional events are better remembered
than neutral ones and that this effect is typically observed in relation to
the memories for specific events experienced in everyday life.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

Psychology can help you motivate your employees. Constant

progress and perks can help uplift an employee’s spirits. But it’s not
always that the spirit keeps up. There have been many examples in which
people with awesome spirit being demotivated and working at service-
oriented companies whereas people with good personality and with not
much good spirit being at a class one post in their big offices. An
employee fit assessment can increase retention rates because it ensures
your employees are built for the job, or at least have the innate potential
to be successful. Hence, personality development has many applications in
both personal and professional life.
3. CONCEPT OF YOUTH.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

Adolescence is a critical link between childhood and adulthood,

characterized by significant physical, psychological, and social transitions.
These transitions carry new risks but also present opportunities to
positively influence the immediate and future health of young people.
While adolescent health is beginning to receive more attention at a global
level, there are still major gaps in both knowledge and action. Psychology
can help us gain that knowledge and thus help us reduce those gaps.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

Social proof is the psychological phenomenon that humans behave

based on how others behave. People assume that if everyone else is doing
something, it must be the right thing to do. This idea can be used to
impress potential employers by getting referrals from previous bosses,
having your skills endorsed on LinkedIn, or simply highlighting your past
experience on your profile. Having a strong personal brand helps potential
employers get a clear idea of whether or not you’ll be a good fit for the
role, so you’re more likely to get the interview or the position. People are
more likely to help someone out if they have already received help from
that person. This may seem obvious, but people often overlook this
because how prevalent it is in society. It is so important to help out
others whenever you can, because you never know how or when they’ll
return the favour. This goes to show that even the smallest acts of kindness
can make a big difference.
4. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

The most effective way to cultivate positivity in your organization is

to acknowledge and reward the behaviours you want. Showing gratitude
can help us cultivate positivity. Staying in control of your emotions during
stressful situations helps you focus on what’s important. Emotional
intelligence is particularly important when pitching a proposal. You need
to be able to read people and understand which techniques relax them
and which ones alienate them. You can hone your emotional intelligence
by joining an organization outside of the workplace that seeks to do good
in exchange for nothing. These qualities will then be appreciated by those
who work with you. At the end of the day, reflecting for even a few
minutes will give you clarity. This will help you to evaluate your strengths
and weaknesses.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

Studies show that high performing leaders tend to have higher

Emotional Intelligence than their peers. The body of research on
Emotional Intelligence shows that the most successful people, those who
consistently outperform their peers, exhibit more of the skills and traits
known as Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence has a significant
impact on team member relationships and their effectiveness in reaching
a team’s goals. Understanding our own EI strengths and weaknesses, as
well as those of other team members, provides a means for improving the
interpersonal dynamics of teamwork. A cool head makes better decisions
and can help you listen better to your team. Hence, EI has many wide
applications.
5. MOTIVATION.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

Motivation is important to manage daily life challenges,

opportunities, and time efficiently to keep moving forward and achieving
goals. Motivation helps us to manage our time and become productive
and beneficial for the organization. Motivation is important for teachers
and students. Motivated teachers inspire students to focus on. And
students motivated for learning inspire teachers to teach. Motivation is
important in human life. Human development is a continuous process.
There are many obstacles in front of humans daily. We need motivation
to keep going and thus achieve success.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

If you’re an employee then I believe that you don’t like a lazy and
negative mindset manager or leader. That’s why motivation at the
workplace matters the most for managers and leaders. It’s because
employees, teammates can be negative, less excited to work on certain
projects. But leaders and managers have to showcase excitement,
creativity, energy, and value in the projects. Motivation helps the
organization to make employees happy and motivated to work hard to
achieve goals. And to improve the motivation level of employees, many
organizations and companies promote, appreciate, increase salary, honour
publicly and provide various other facilities to deserving candidates. Self-
starters excel at testing their limits, and they take initiative by handling
difficult tasks. When you embrace challenges, you show a desire for more
experience, the motivation to improve and the confidence to succeed.
Getting comfortable with discomfort and setting higher expectations can
motivate us a lot to get the work done. Focusing on successes rather than
failures can be helpful in increasing the motivation too.
6. STRESS MANAGEMENT.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

We must be realistic. You shouldn’t be taking any responsibilities

than what you can handle. We must be willing to listen to other people’s
suggestions and be ready to compromise. No one is perfect in this world.
We must not hesitate to ask for help when we need it. We must relax in
any way that we find relaxing like meditating, listening to music, etc. We
can use our imagination to find out a way about how we can manage our
stress. Doing one thing at a time can be extremely productive and help us
reduce stress exponentially. Exercising daily also helps us reduce the
stress. These can be some of the ways we can manage stress.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

When you start off the day with planning, good nutrition, and
positive attitude, you might find that the stress of your job rolls off your
back more easily. This results in productive work. Interpersonal conflict
takes a toll on your physical and emotional health. Conflict among co-
workers can be difficult to escape, so it’s a good idea to avoid conflict at
work as much as you can. Even if you’re a naturally disorganized person,
planning ahead to stay organized can greatly decrease your stress at
work. Keeping yourself organized can also mean avoiding the negative
effects of clutter, and being more efficient with your work. This can help
us reduce stress.
7. SOCIAL MEDIA.
APPLICATIONS IN PERSONAL LIFE:

Social media enables you to communicate and stay up to date with

family and friends around the world. It helps us to find new friends and
communities and network with other people who share similar interests
or ambitions. It also helps to discover sources of valuable information and
learning and to find an outlet for your creativity and self-expression. It
also helps to find vital social connection if you live in a remote area, or
have limited independence, social anxiety, or are part of a marginalized
group. Hence, social media can be extremely useful in our personal life.

APPLICATIONS IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

The main advantage of social networks is that it allows to get the

contacts of your friends and relative in order to keep in contact with
them dynamically. One can be informed about latest updates. Sharing of
photos, audio, and video makes the communication entertaining and
interesting. People get to know about the product in the form of reviews
posted by other people on social network. This provides a rational opinion
about the product that can act like guide to buy the right product, thus
improving sales. Group discussion is one of the best features that social
media can provide to the user. The group discussion allows the user to
participate in subjective discussions which may be useful to get more
knowledge in focused topics. Social media is a wide network of people
where the medium is open to communicate. The company, brands, and
users can follow another user’s activities or get followed by others which
increase the power or value in social network. Brand name can be
established easily. Hence, social media plays an important role in one’s
