Daily Lesson Plan (Monday) : Sauyo High School

The document contains a daily lesson plan for a Grade 7 Science class. The lesson plan aims to [1] describe the components of a scientific investigation, [2] differentiate between qualitative and quantitative observations and identify variables, and [3] formulate hypotheses and interpret data from investigations. The lesson will involve students arranging jumbled letters to recall scientific method terms, discussing variables, and providing an example with identified dependent, independent, and controlled variables.

Competencies/Objectives
OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to;

- Identify and describe the components of a scientific investigation based on

evidence.
- Differentiate qualitative from quantitative observation and identify the
independent, dependent, and controlled variables.
- Formulate a hypothesis, collect, organize, and interpret data about the
investigation.
- Conduct a simple investigation involving community-based problems by
using locally available materials. (Guided investigation related to MELC 2)

Discussing new concepts and VARIABLES

practicing new skill
Identifying and controlling variables involve the process of deciding which variables
(Explain) or factors will influence the outcome of an experiment, situation or event and
deliberately control all recognized variables in a systematic manner.
Dependent Variable - It is the effect that arises from the changes in the independent
variable.
Independent Variable - The variable that is being manipulated or controlled.
Controlled Variable – also known as the constant variable.
