In accordance with the MATATAG Basic Education Agenda and with

the guidance of the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), we
volunteered to work as teacher-facilitators for the National Learning
Camp (NLC) for the 2022–2023 end–of–school year break. This
report provides an overview of the program's performance between
July 24 and August 25, 2023.
We placed a high priority on forming relationships with kids, doing
diagnostic assessments, and creating tailored learning plans for each. The
placement of students in the Enhancement and Consolidation Camps was done
through entertaining discussions and engaging games, depending on their specific
needs. Teachers collaborated to exchange knowledge about the strengths and
challenges of their students through distance learning LAC sessions. We talked
about how to teach Science, Math, and English using good lesson plans and
teaching methods. Lessons in Math, Science, and English were combined with
enjoyable camp-style activities to encourage skill development.
During LAC sessions, the group discussions provided teachers with the time
to reflect on the success of the activities from the previous week, exchange student
input, and make any required modifications to their pedagogical approaches.
Student projects that demonstrated how they had applied their knowledge were
shown. Significant gains were seen in the intervention camp students. The
culmination was a happy "Camp Day" filled with team-building activities that
demonstrated the participants' socioemotional growth and character.
The outcomes of the camp were carefully assessed, and suggestions for the
coming weeks were considered. The five weeks were in accord with the objectives of
the National Learning Camp and a testament to the camp's potential. While
sharpening their academic skills and developing holistically, learners showed signs
of personal growth and enhanced socio-emotional abilities. The appropriate mix of
inside and outside the classroom learning sessions enabled continuous learning
and teachers’ development.
DepEd has generously provided Victoria Integrated School with vacation
service credits, a certificate of appreciation, and other perks as thanks for our
prolonged service. This year, we as camp teachers were pleased to contribute to the
National Learning Camp's success, and we are looking forward to working with
additional educators and stakeholders in the future.
