Cognitive Development
In paragraph form, describe the cognitive development of the learner. Combine
the teacher’s, parent’s responses, and your own observations.

Her cognitive development continuously developed as she go to school, she is the

same as the other learner, she actively participates in their lesson but like every
student she has a difficulty understanding the math subject.

Conclusions

Write your conclusions after you have analyzed the impact of the school and
the home on the learner’s development. The question in Your analysis portion of
this learning episode can help you.

I conclude that the school and home contribute a great impact in developing
the cognitive, affective, psychomotor and so as to the total personality of the
learner. Hence the learning of the learner begins at home; there she learns values,
and works and her cognitive slowly developed. However, school plays a vital role in
molding the learner. As the learner goes to study from pre-school until college she
spends much time in school rather than at home. So, the total development of the
learner depends in school as well as the teacher which is the most important
person in school that bears knowledge and values to share with the learner

Recommendations
Write your recommendations.
The teacher should be diligent and shows an open minded, patience and
understanding to the learners. She must use different strategies in order to catch
the attention of the learners. And for the parents they must guide their child in terms
of her studies and they should encourage and monitor their child. They must be
guided and motivated to learn and finish their studies.

My analysis
Your findings and recommendations in the Learner Development Profile will you
answer the questions here.

1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of
parenting experienced by the learner? Explain your answer.

8 Episode 6- Home-School Link

FIELD STUDY
home school link
1:

From my home visit and interview, parents used authoritative parenting style.
If the learner commits mistakes they make the learner understand the
consequence of her behavior.

2. Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what
family factors do you think contribute to the development and over-all
adjustment of the learner in school?

In relation to what I have learned from child development, such family factors
contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the learner in school are
parent factors if how they act in front of their children, how they impose discipline
among the members of the family and how they guide and nurture their children.
Broken family is also factor because child grows without a father or mother who
is responsible in taking care of her.

3. Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the

learner? If yes, what are these effects?

Yes, the communications between the home-school has an effect on the

learner. Such effects are, parents become aware of the performance of their
child, and through this they can guide the learner in terms of their studies.
Teachers also, become aware of the learners behavior by asking the background of the
learner and through communicating with the learner’s parents.

My Reflections
1. Reflect on your own development as a child. What type of parenting did
you experience? How did it affect you?

Semi authoritative parenting style is used by my parents. They have

implemented roles which we should follow by my brother with a punishment
when we break these rules. But they are also supportive when it comes to our
schooling, they allow us to go out if it’s concerned with school’s activity but if not
we should stay at home and do our chores. When its examination time our
parents give us time to study our lessons they did not allow us to do chores, and
when we got a high grades they give us gifts.

2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home-school

collaboration? How can you work well with the parents? How can you help
them? How can they help you?
9 Episode 6- Home-School Link

1:

As a future teacher, I could establish good home-school collaboration by

conducting meeting once a month among the parents regarding the performance
of their child. By this, I will be able to inform them about the progress and failure
of their child. In return, they could help me by encouraging their child to study at
home and discipline their child to behave.

My Portfolio
1. Make an artistic colorful and creative visual expression of your insights or
feelings about the influence of the home and school to the learner. Then
write a few statements on the space below about your visual art.
