ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON GULAYAN SA PAARALAN

I. Introduction

Gulayan sa Paaralan is one of the activities that is very crucial to make our vegetables free from
destruction and make it appoint that pupils understand the importance of vegetables in our body. The
teacher explains to every pupil to eat nutritious food. Primarily eating vegetables can make our body
stronger and free from diseases. It is also part of the Department of Education yearly activity; they
want to pursue and implement this program to every school to support and preserve our environment
as well as our natural resources. Trees, plants and vegetables are very important in our ecosystem,
they are a source of raw materials for medicine, they are also source of food, and they protect us
from flood, so it is very crucial to maintain a healthful environment. The variety of vegetables
planted in Gadu Elementary school are String beans, cassava, okra, and bitter gourd.
We also have fruit bearing trees such as mangoes, star apple, santol, Papaya, and lime. Teachers as well as the pupils
find accurate place suited for the vegetables so that it will grow faster and safe. This activity enlightens and teaches our
beloved pupils to plant more vegetables not only in the school premises but also to the community. By having Gulayan
sa Paaralan pupils will learn to plant vegetables in their backyard that can be a source of food by their family.

II. Objectives

1. To promote vegetable production in the school campus.


2. To establish and maintain gardens as ready food source of vegetables in sustaining
supplementary feeding.
3. To include among the learners the values of gardening, good health and malnutrition, love of
labor and caring for others.

III. Highlights

The Grade IV – VI pupils together with their supportive parents participated in Gulayan sa
Paaralan in their EPP subject. After assigning their respective school garden plots, they cleaned and
prepared the soil by plowing and mixing it with garden soil and organic fertilizer such as vermi cast,
and animal manure.They also prepared seeds like string beans bitter gourd and the like in the
seedling box. After a few weeks, they grew and were ready for planted. Then the pupils started
planting vegetables in their assigned garden plots. Now we are waiting for the harvest of those
vegetables so that some of them can be used for supplementary feeding but malunggay were the ones
that were used to supplement the daily feeding of our pupils because of its abundant supply in our
school. Some okra and ampalaya harvest from our garden plots were also used for our
supplementary feeding.

IV. Issues and concerns


 To support the School Based Feeding Program for one hundred twenty (120) days.
 To enhance the skills of each pupil to learn how to cultivate the soil for school gardening.
 To give importance that vegetables are good for our body.

V. Comments and Suggestions


 Sustain the use of organic fertilizers in raising vegetables
 Continues support from the national budget
 Parents involvement in vegetable gardening
