About UPES
Established in 2003, through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand, UPES is a
UGC-recognized university and has been accredited Grade 'A' by NAAC. National Institutional
Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Education, has ranked UPES amongst the top 100
universities to study in India. In addition, the School of Engineering at UPES has been ranked 91,
the School of Business is ranked 46 and the School of Law is among the top 25 institutions in India.
The university has received QS rating 5-Stars for Employability (placements), Academic
Development, Program Strength, Campus Facilities and 4-Stars for overall teaching.
UPES offers industry-aligned and specialized graduate and postgraduate Programs through its
eight schools: School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Design, School of
Law, School of Business, School of Health Sciences & Technology, School of Modern Media and
School of Liberal Studies. Given its industry-oriented program and emphasis on holistic
development, UPES graduates are a preferred choice for recruiters, ensuring a track record of
90% + placements over the years.
UPES faculty members are an illustrious group, with over 700 academicians from world-renowned
institutions, including Rhodes, Fulbright, Commonwealth, Chevening, DAAD and Erasmus scholars,
besides a Fox Fellow from Yale University. Fifteen UPES faculty members are in the list of top 2%
researchers in the world, according to a study led by scientists from Stanford University, and six of
the faculty members at UPES have found a place in the Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers List.
UPES is driven by its core philosophy and purpose of delivering outstanding student outcomes.
In 2021, it was awarded the 'University of the Year-North' by ASSOCHAM and Institution of
Happiness award by QS I-Gauge in association with ASSOCHAM.
UPES Global Pathway Program (GPP) is a step towards providing students with an exceptional
international experience. Through seamless transfer of credits from UPES to our partner
universities overseas, students will have an opportunity to get access to high-quality academic
resources at a significantly lower cost. What’s even better, along with ample global exposure,
students will have the opportunity to work in the destination countries.
Additionally, GPP is a safe and secure way to pursue education at foreign universities, as students
are shielded from several risks. Some parents are of the opinion that just-out-of-school children
may not necessarily have the independent-living skills or the academic preparedness for
overseas education. The students themselves may feel anxious or overwhelmed at the thought of
studying in a new country all by themselves. A couple of years of exposure in a higher education
environment is necessary to give these children the opportunity to acclimatize, think
independently and make life-altering decisions.
With the GPP, parents can rest assured of their wards’ well-being and safety as they start their
journey at our partner academic universities after completing a part of studies at UPES. It gives
them abundant time to ease themselves into the course, get used to the demands of the
program, build relationships and friendships, and have a peer network to fall back upon, which
will ensure that they will not be left feeling lonely when they plan their travels, accommodation
and life in a foreign destination.
In the eventuality of a student changing his/her mind due to unforeseen circumstances, he/she
is allowed to complete the degree at UPES, thereby keeping all uncertainties and ambivalence
at bay.
