PROJECT PROPOSAL

Brigada Pagbasa “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-aral”

II. Program Description:


This reading program will focus on identifying the reading level of Kindergarten and Grades 1 to 6 learners and
enhancing the current reading ability of the learners through the collaboration of the reading advocates who will
provide enrichment activities and donate reading materials in order to help improve the students’ present reading
abilities.

III. Rationale:
This program was formulated in compliance with the Brigada Pagbasa Program,
anchored with DepEd Memorandum No. 173, s. 2019 entitled “HAMON: BAWAT BATANG BULAKENYO
BIHASANG BUMABASA (5Bs Initiative)”. It aims to bring together the reading advocates from the educators and
community to contribute DepEd Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan by helping learners by helping our Grade
7 students enhance their reading skills in the context of partnership.

IV. Objectives:
The school Brigada Pagbasa aims to:
 help and identify the struggling readers;
 revived the spirit of Bayanihan among the stakeholders; and
 enhance the reading abilities and comprehension skills of learners.

 Kaylawig Elementary School Learners

VI. Project Scheme:


A. Program Dissemination
1. A meeting with English teachers will be conducted to discuss the reading inventory.
2. Parents will be contacted by the responsible teachers through text, call, or Facebook Messenger to
receive information about the initiative and to obtain their permission for their children to
participate.
3. Invitations will be sent to the possible reading teachers and sponsors

B. Program Implementation
1. Procedures

Reading
Sessions
It is a
regular reading session for non- reader and frustration readers with the assistance of
the Volunteer Reading Teachers assigned to them. Instructional and independent readers will be given books of
short stories and comprehension skills enhancement activities.

2. Assessment
Phil Iri (Philippine Informal Reading Inventory)
To identify non-readers, frustrated readers, instructional readers and
independent readers, the English teachers will administer an oral reading inventory
with Phil-IRI using the grade level passage.

Post Assessment through Oral Reading Inventory.

 Identify the frustration and non- readers in each specific grade levels.

 Learners show improvement to their present reading ability base on their post-assessment results.
