BAPTISM IS IN WHICH NAME?

Question: “Which Is The True Baptism?”

This is a good question. But it is also a difficult question. Do you know why?
There is a TRANSLATION and there is a MEANING to a word. In this matter, you need
to begin by understanding the following: “What Is Baptism? How did God baptize?
Why do we baptize? What is wrong with not getting baptized?”

The Greek word “baptism” means “to dip in much water” “to immerse in much water”.
Who were those being baptized? We have John the Baptist because he was “dipping
men in water”.
How was Jesus baptized? Read Matthew 3:11-17, which shows that Jesus was baptize
in the baptism of MUCH WATER / MANY WATERS. Matthew 3:16 states that, “And
Jesus, when he was baptized, WENT UP straightway OUT OF THE WATER. …”

Question: When we are baptized, what or who does it point to?

Turn to Romans 6:3,4:
3 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should
walk in newness of life.”

So, in simple language, when we speak about baptism, we are talking about DEATH.
The Spirit of Prophecy, in Early Writings is talking about US PROCLAIMING THE
DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS.

Question: Now between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, which entity was
baptized?
Answer: The verse has already given us the answer that it is Jesus, by stating that “know
ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into JESUS CHRIST were baptized into his
death?” Romans 6:3

Question: Now how do we baptize to SYMBOLIZE the death of Jesus?

By the one baptizing covering the nose of the one being baptized.

Question: And why does he cover the nose?

Turn to Job 27:3.
Is it so that water does not enter (the nostrils)? You know that some think that this is
done so that water does not enter the nose; and someone may say, “I was able to hold
it this way”. No. Or others may say, “I am able to hold my breath because I am a
swimmer, so I need not cover my nose.” No. you have not died.

“All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;”

Now read Genesis 2:7. We wish to know where the life of an individual is found so
that we can be able to put him to death, and then bury him. But, firstly, we must put
him to death. We have been initially told that the SPIRIT OF GOD is in THE NOSTRILS!
And once we have discovered where it is, it becomes easy to put to death a person.

Genesis 2:7 declares that: “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Therefore humanity consists of:

DUST OF THE GROUND + BREATH OF LIFE (OF GOD) = LIVING SOUL

And so when we kill the person (by closing the path to breathing via THE NOSTRILS),
then we will be able to PUT HIM TO DEATH; and we are going to BURY him! And
this is what Ecclesiastes 12:7 tells us, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

Therefore we need to PUT YOU TO DEATH, for Baptism means to Die and Resurrect
with Jesus. One needs to be buried in death, and thereafter to be resurrected. First we
need to dig a grave; and in this instance it is a WATERY / WATER GRAVE. We have
already seen that Water symbolized the Grave. After digging the grave, we first put
you to death before we bury you. So as you enter the baptismal water, you HOLD
YOUR NOSE, a symbol that the person is already Death; and therefore symbolizing
that the breath is already gone. Now what remains is the BODY.

Remember that we have stated that a human being consists of the DUST (THE BODY)
plus the BREATH, which we have already removed. Therefore, we can now bury you.
Now because baptism means to IMMERSE or BURY IN WATER, he is buried / immersed
in this manner [DEMONSTRATING BY LOWERING A PERSON BACKWARDS]. Then
is fulfilled the words of Romans 6:3. “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized
into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” Again the question is emphasizing:
“Don’t you know?” Well! As for us, we KNOW, and thereafter, the person who is
baptized resurrects.

But before this, you cannot bury a person “in the name of the Father, of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit.” You cannot bury all three entities.

You must bury him in the manner of Him who the Bible says: “For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) There is NO OTHER NAME. Acts 4:12
states that, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other NAME under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Therefore, when we bury him we say, “We hereby bury this servant of God IN THE
NAME OF JESUS CHRIST” “in the likeness of His death”!

God is not buried by / in death. The attributes of God are that He is Omnipotent,
Omnipresent. Those are the attributes of God the Father. God is the FATHER of Jesus
Christ.

Now let us as other people; because when you read Matthew 28:19 it says that “Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”. And 2 Timothy 3:16 tell us “All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine.”

Question: So is Matthew 28:19 part of the Scriptures or not? And is Jesus confusing us,
or what did He do in this matter? But we have been able to come to understand from
Deuteronomy 17:17 that one witness is not enough. We need “Two or three witnesses”.

Now let us begin from Matthew. Isn’t it Matthew that has spoken first (Matthew
28:19)? Let Matthew 3:11 tell us about baptism; and them we look into whether he has
spoken of baptism in the name of Jesus. “I indeed baptize you with water unto
repentance. …” John the Baptist is speaking of “His Baptism”.

Question: Surely, is there any human that baptizes? We have been given the command
to lay hands on the sick, that they may be healed. But is there any healing virtue in us
to heal?

We have only been instructed / commanded. Jesus in like manner said that, “Suffer it
to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.” (Mat. 3:15) It is not
that the one baptizing has sin, but it is so as “to fulfil all righteousness”. Now we are
told that “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance”. Isn’t it? “… but he that
cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall
baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”.

Question: When you shall be saying, “I hereby baptize you in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”, remember that at this time who is it that is
baptizing men “in the name of the Holy Ghost”? No. It is Jesus in the light of Matthew
3:11.

Let us turn to Mark 1:18, and allow John the Baptist to tell us who it is that baptizes
with the Holy Spirit!

So up until there Matthew has an apparent contradiction of himself. In Matthew, we

find Jesus commanding us to baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost”. But in the same book of Matthew we are being told that there is
another person who is baptizing WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. And that person is Jesus.

Let turn to Mark, because Mark was present with Jesus. Mark 1:8:

“I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy
Ghost.”

And Mark confesses that the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit is Jesus!

Question: And what about you, John? What do you profess?

Turn to John 1:33. This is a clear line for cancelling the arguments given by those who
cite Matthew 28 as proof of the trinity.

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of
God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

So in Verse 31 John the Baptist himself is speaking and giving witness:

“And I [JOHN THE BAPTIST] knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with
water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending,
and remaining on him, the same is he which BAPTIZETH WITH THE HOLY
GHOST.”

So up to there, we have received three witnesses. And all of them are saying that the
baptism of the Holy Spirit is not being done by a human being. Human beings
participate in the baptism of REPENTANCE only. The baptism of WATER.

To the argument of baptism “in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit”, we have already removed the HOLY SPIRIT. We remain with investigating the
TWO OTHER NAMES.

Now there is a difference between NAMES and TITLES.

Question: What is the Name of “FATHER”? Is “Father” A Name? Is “Son” A Name? Is

“Holy Spirit” A Name? In the statement “I baptize you in “THE NAME OF …”” Is
“Father” A Name? Those are PRONOUNS.

Question: What is the name of “The Father”?

Turn to 1 Corinthians 8:6:

“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in
him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

Therefore there “to us there is but one God” who is “the Father”; the “Father” of Who?
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thus, when we speak of the NAME of He who is “Father”, the Bible writers should
have made the statement in this manner: “I baptize you in the name of GOD”. But it
is erroneous to use the term “in the name of THE FATHER” because the term “Father”
is not a NAME.

The name “Son”. What is the name of the SON? Turn to Matthew 1:21. Firstly, is the
word “Son” a NAME? For example, who am I? I am called Bennedicto, SON OF ….
Or Zebedee, SON OF … The word “Son” points to a Male Son. It is not a name. Isn’t
it? The name of the Son.

Question: What is it (of the individual being spoken of in the Bible)? … because there
is also the “Son of perdition” John 17:12, 2 Thessalonians 2:3). There is the “Son of
man”. And there is the “Son of God”.

Matthew 1:21 says, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name
JESUS:” And what is the meaning of the name? Continue reading … “for he shall save
his people from their sins.” The name “Jesus” means, “He shall save His people from
their sins.” Or “Redeemer”, “Saviour”.

Question: The NAME in which a person was supposed to be baptized is the name of
Jesus.

Okay. I now ask you to give me the NAME of the Holy Spirit. Is “Holy Spirit” a NAME?

Therefore, when we speak with regard to a NAME, we have been deceived; because
the Scriptures declare that the name the SON is “JESUS CHRIST”; the name of the
FATHER is “GOD”; and the name of the HOLY SPIRIT in the light of the Scriptures in
John 14:26? Let us find out. …

John 14:26 states that “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name”.

Jesus says “… whom the Father will send IN MY NAME”. Therefore, the Holy Spirit
will come in HIS name? This is why when we look at the description to the works done
by the HOLY SPIRIT and we compare them with the works done by JESUS HIMSELF,
we find that they are THE SAME! Here we say that there is a difference between the
HOLY SPIRIT and JESUS. And also (we will need to learn) why the Scriptures say that,
“whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but
unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.” Luke 12:10
(Matthew 12:32) There we get an understanding of the Godhead.

1 John 2:22.

“Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that
denieth the Father and the Son.” (1 John 2:22)

Let us come to agreement on this matter; that in Matthew 28:19 we have come to
discover NAMES – that those quoted words are not NAMES!

We now wish to go to the THIRD WITNESS: Those who given the Great Commission.

Question: Those given the Great Commission went to preach and to baptize in WHICH
NAME? Acts 2:37, 38 on the Day Of Pentecost.

Read Acts 10:34-38 in the times when Apostle Peter was preaching the gospel.

34 “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, ‘Of a truth I perceive that God is no
respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted
with him.
36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus
Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and
began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:
who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil;
for God was with him.’ ”

Now Verse 39 continues, saying: “And we are witnesses of all things which he did both
in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree”.

Peter himself is speaking, and he says, “we are witnesses of ALL THINGS which he did”!
Now who will contradict or oppose what Peter is saying? He [APOSTLE PETER] says:

“we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in
Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Him God raised up the third
day, and shewed him openly; NOT TO ALL THE PEOPLE, but UNTO WITNESSES
CHOSEN BEFORE OF GOD, EVEN TO US”.

Question: Are you seeing that? That “UNTO WITNESSES CHOSEN BEFORE OF GOD,
EVEN TO US”? They are counting themselves that “We Are The Witnesses”; that “if
you want an account of the life of this man Jesus who appointed men to proclaim the
gospel, then ask us!” He says, “to US, who did eat and drink with him after he rose
from the dead”. (Vs. 41). Hallelujah!

Question: So when Jesus gives the Great Commission for the apostles to go out and
preach and baptize, isn’t it after His resurrection?
[Response from the congregation: “Yes”.]

Therefore he is saying that WE / “US, who did eat and drink with him after he rose
from the dead”.

Beloved, let me tell you something before I continue. … For people who have come
to understand the Truth very well, and have been baptized in the name of Jesus, their
lives change. I was first baptized in the THREE NAMES, but after I was baptized IN
THE NAME OF JESUS, there was a great transformation in my life. There is a friend of

mine who had devoted his life to evangelism. He would be found to be preaching
almost every week. He will you that earlier, he could be found in practices witchcraft.
They could make rain. They could go to gold mines to steal using witchcraft. Back at
home, we have an ethnic community called Kigoma. I know that over here you know
the Wasukuma Community; but the Kigoma are of a more powerful witchcraft. He
says that prior to his conversion he used to be able to get 100,000, or 500,000 Shillings
… But after his baptism, he has never been able to find 100,000 Shillings. For a person
who has not yet learned the cost of being a Christian, today he may that that this friend
of mine is a fool and someone who is wasting his time in all the evangelistic activities.

Let us continue. Peter says in Acts 10:41, 42. Listen to this argument. Listen to the weight
of this evidence; for even if you were a Judge and you listened to this argument, in
what way could one defeat this argument? I am accusing the person who has brought
about the Trinitarian teaching by these Scriptures.

I am accusing him. I am accusing him to the Judge. He says, “Listen, your honour. This
person who has written Acts 10:41, 42 says that it was “Not to all the people, but unto
witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he
rose from the dead. And HE COMMANDED US” … This is the Person who
commissioned us. … “to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was
ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.”

Question: Therefore, in Matthew 28, which group of people was being commanded?
Wasn’t it Peter and the other apostles?
[Response from the congregation: “Yes”.]

He says that it is us who were commanded! But he did not finish there. But he wrote
it down, together with OTHER WITNESSES, saying (Acts 10:43), “To him give all the
prophets witness that THROUGH HIS NAME whosoever believeth in him shall receive
remission of sins.”

Question: To HOW MANY prophets?

[Response from the congregation: “All Prophets”.]

Therefore, all the prophets, even those of old believe that it is this Jesus alone who is
the one to give “remission of sins.” Remember that in this narrative Apostle Peter has
gone out among the gentiles to preach the gospel, in the narrative at the beginning of
Acts 10, where Peter is given a vision of the unclean animals. This is the vision where
he was told to eat all the unclean animals.

From this narrative is where we get people who say that we can eat anything. When a
person says “Eat everything”, let them continue. You cannot change a person’s heart
when they have decided to fall from the truth. This is true even for me. I have the
power of choice for obedience and for rejecting the truth. Nevertheless, many church
members allow sin to enter the church because they are unable to rebuke it; thinking
that by so doing, they are loving their brethren. “So if you ‘chase them from church’,

wouldn’t you be dividing the church? Are you now God who brought them to this
congregation?” Let the Truth do the shaking, for it is the Straight Testimony. ….

Then after all this speaking, what did Peter do? Verses 44 to 46 say:

44 “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which
heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came
with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered
Peter,”

Verse 47. Listen. Baptism is going to take place. In whose name? You have heart it
said that baptism is in the name of Jesus, but before these many witnesses. It says:

“Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have
received the Holy Ghost as well as we?”

Now to verse 48. They were baptized in which name? In the name of the Father? Or
of the Son? Or of the Holy Spirit? Or of Jesus? Or the baptism of fire?

“And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. ...” Act 10:48

Question: So they were they baptized in WHICH NAME?

[Response from the congregation: “Of Jesus Christ”.]

Now write the other verses: Acts 2:37, 38. It was on the day of Pentecost; and they
had baptisms on that day. It says:

37 “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto
Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, ‘REPENT, and be baptized every one of you IN
THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the REMISSION OF SINS, and ye shall
receive the GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST.’ ”

Question: Therefore, on the day of Pentecost, they were they baptized in WHICH
NAME? Acts 2:38.
[Response from the congregation: “Of Jesus Christ”.]

But then there was also the story of Philip. Phillip was the one who baptized the
Ethiopian Eunuch. Ethiopia is another name for the land of Cush.

Question: As the Eunuch was returning home, in WHICH NAME did Phillip baptize
him?

[Response from the congregation: “Of Jesus Christ”.]

That is from Acts 8:26–40.

[The story in the same chapter of Peter baptizing the people of Samaria is another
witness. See Acts 8:16.]

Now lastly. The question is: If you are not baptized in the name of Jesus, would your
sins not be cleansed or removed?
Yes. Why?

Hebrews 9:22 states that “without shedding of blood is no remission.”

Therefore, for sin to be removed, there must be the shedding of blood; and then would
come the reconciliation.

Question: Between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, who is it that shed His
blood?
[Response from the congregation: “The Son. … Jesus Christ”.]

So it is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us, sanctifies us, and makes us new creatures.

Now, lastly, because our time is up, let us turn to Galatians 3:26, 27. When you get
baptized, it says that we who have been baptized “have put on Christ”. He who has
been baptized has “put on Christ” through the Holy Spirit. This is why the Scriptures
tell of a person being baptized in the name of Jesus and then receiving the Holy Spirit.

26 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

Read Acts 19:1-5. There was a group of people who had been baptized, just as all of us
have been baptized. They had not heard about the coming of the Holy Spirit, because
at His departure, Jesus “commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.” (Acts
1:4) Therefore, the people who knew of this were the disciples of Jesus (who were with
Him). The disciples of John did not know. Now they met one individual who was well
acquainted with the Scriptures. When we read Acts 18:28 it says that Apollos “mightily
convinced the Jews, and that publickly”. But he then met with one man called Paul.
He told Paul that “I am a Pharisee. I know of the matters of the disciples …” And how
was it? Then the narrative began. Turn to Acts 19:1-7:

“And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed
through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said
unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said
unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And

 he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's
baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance,
saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after
him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were BAPTIZED IN THE
NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the
Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And
all the men were about twelve.”

Someone will ask you, “So when John the Baptist was baptizing, in which name was
he baptizing?” Haven’t we now found the answer? The answer is in Acts 19:4. This is
how you reply. Listen to this. When John the Baptist was baptizing, in which name was
he baptizing? In the name of Jesus or in the name of the Holy Spirit? Acts 19:4 states:

“Then said Paul, ‘John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the
people, that they should believe on him which should come after him,” meaning who
was this?
[Response from the congregation: “Jesus”.]

Not “Father, Son and Holy Spirit”. Therefore, baptism is in the name of Jesus! You
have finished your argument in court!

When John was baptizing he pointed, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away
the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)

Question: Who was this?

[Response from the congregation: “Jesus”.]

Question: Therefore, baptism remains with which person?

[Response from the congregation: “Jesus”.]

That is why all the apostles – when you read Acts 10:43 – state that even “all the
prophets [GIVE] witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall
receive remission of sins.”

Any addition?

[ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL SPEAKING] Luke 24:44 explains the answer to the question,
“In what name did John the Baptist baptize?” It states: “And he said unto them, These
are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, …” Here it is Jesus
bidding farewell to His apostles, and He tells them that ALL that I was teaching you is
THIS: “that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in
the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.” “Then opened he their
understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,” (Verse 45). Now so that
they may understand that ALL THE GOSPEL, from the Beginning up to His time, He
now reveled to them:

 46 “And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name
among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”

Now if John the Baptist preached, and baptized the baptism of removal of sin, which
is the baptism of repentance, then in which name was he baptizing? It states that “IN
HIS NAME among all nations” “should be preached” the gospel. Now it happened in
this manner. Now all individuals who are going to baptize others (John the Baptist
included) were therefore to baptize IN JESUS’ NAME.

How many desire baptism? Please step forward. …

[Question from the congregation: “There is a question before that. It means that if you
ever received another baptism of a different manner that is not mentioned here in the
Bible, for instance in the Name Of The Trinity (“in the name of the Father, of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit”), would you require another baptism?]

Answer: The Bible, in Ephesians 4:4-7 declares that there is One Baptism and One God.
Now the baptism that we have taught and the one that you have mentioned, are they
the same?
[Response from the congregation: “No” … “They are different”.]

Therefore, they have not yet been baptized. That is the meaning. There is one baptism.
And that baptism – as explained in Romans shows that Jesus died ONCE. Therefore, if
one has backslidden and returned to his sins, then there is no repetition. There is no
second baptism, no third baptism, no fourth baptism, … for Jesus died ONCE.

How many need to be baptized (from the conviction of their heart)? Let them stand
up. … How many desire baptism? Please step forward. …

Mark 16:16 says, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth
not shall be damned.”

How many need to be baptized … even if it won’t take place today? Let them stand
up. …
