Specification of Summative Assessment for term 2

1. Aim of the Summative Assessment for term
Summative assessment is aimed to assess learners’ success in terms of the learning objectives achievement and
reveal their level of knowledge and skills acquired during the term.
Learning objective:
Reading : 4.3.5.1 Understand the main points of short simple texts on a growing range
general and some curricular topics by using contextual clues.
Writing: 4.4.1.1 Plan, write and check sentences with support on a range of basic personal,
general and some curricular topics
4.5.14.1 Use prepositions of location, position and direction: at, in, on, behind, between, in front of, near, next
to, opposite, above, up, down, on the right, on the left; use prepositions of time: in, on, at, before, after; use with
/ without to indicate; accompaniment with for instrument and for to indicate recipient

2. The document defining the content of the Summative Assessment for term
The Subject Programme for «The English language» for 1-4 grades of primary education on the updated
content.

3. Review of the Summative Assessment for term 1

3.1 Duration - 40 minutes.

This sample of summative assessment consists of reading and writing. Different types of tasks are
used in the Summative Assessment for the term.

Task 4. Read and answer the questions.

This is Baiterek Tower. This is a very famous building in Nur-Sultan. It looks like
the golden egg of the magic bird Samruk on top of a tree. The tower is 97 metres
tall. You can take great pictures from up there and you can see the whole city. At
night, Baiterek Tower changes colours. They use computers to do this. It is
fantastic!
