INTRODUCTION
Over the course of the 21st Century, electrical power or electricity has been the
most efficient secondary source of energy that plays a vital role in the society, which is
mainly used in operating almost all kinds of facilities and technology today. In all
impossible without electric power (Mathews and Tan, 2013, Ahmad et al., 2016). An
electrical system is an object made up of various electrical components that allow for
transporting electrical energy for a particular purpose. Within the context of a building, it
electrical power safely from the point of delivery or generation to the various loads
around the building that consume the electrical energy. It is typically converted into other
forms of energy, to serve useful purposes such as heating, lighting, motion or other forms
reliable energy supply and should not have any detrimental impact on the environment
(Cosmi et al., 2003, El-Shatter et al., 2006). The accumulation of electrical energy that
has been used in any given time is termed the electrical consumption, or electrical use

and is very often metered for billing purposes. Electrical consumption is most often
measured and compared by reference to the term Kilowatt hour. In its most basic form,
this is the amount of energy used by a resistive load of 1000 watts (1kW) running for 1
hour. This quantity of energy can be equated to, say, running a 1kW electric heater
continuously for 1 hour, and the amount of energy used by this would be 1kWh or ‘1 unit’
of electricity. Equally, a 100W filament lamp (0.1kW) running for 10 hours would
consume 1kWh of electrical energy (ECA, 2022). Many smaller electrical installations
are billed for their consumption based on the number of kWh used over a given time
period, plus a ‘standing charge’ which covers supplier and distributor costs. Larger
consumers of electrical energy will be billed based on a more complex sets of conditions
– taking into account the power factor of the connected load, maximum demand at any
given time, time of day, season, as well as system use charges and other overheads borne
system expansion planning, which considered the environmental costs related to the
construction and operation of power plants. The planning and designing of electric power
system serves as a key part in the designing of power electric engineering, and its quality
has a direct influence on the normal operation of the electric engineering system. The
planning of electric power systems provides an important guarantee for a rapid, stable
and sustainable development of the electric power industry. An overall and long-term

electric power development plan as well as the planning and designing of electric power
system is closely related to the rational utility of the investment in electric power industry
and the economic efficiency of the resources and energy utilization, serves as an
important guarantee for the security of power grid and economic operation, and is a
requisite for sustainable development of the electric power industry. The history of the
methods for network planning comes along with the history of electric power industry. As
the significance of the electric power for the national economy was increasing, more and
more efforts were put to find the optimal network development strategies. Recognized
that there are several methodologies applied in practice, which result in feasible and
decent solutions. However, it is evident that these methods can be improved. The
development of more and more efficient methods for the planning of distribution
nearly half of the investments in the power industry are spent in distribution networks.

loads will be utilized. The output of this study will be beneficial to the following:
Employees. This will help the employees, faculty members and staff, to be aware of
using electricity especially if they utilize offices and laboratories in their work.
Students. This study benefits the students by providing them insights into the process of
developing an electrical system over a 10-year period in the most efficient way,
particularly electrical engineering students who deals in this line of work specifically in
guide for the development of a sustainable and reliable electricity supply over the next 10
years.
School (CSPC). This study will help the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges to
maximize and utilize the use of electrical energy as well as to help the school on how to
reduce the consumption of energy to lessen the overall expenses of the electrical bill.
Future Researchers. This study may serve as a substantial reference to the future
The general intent of this study is to conduct and design an effective 10-Year
development plan of CSPC. This study is delimited to the electrical consumption of the
whole campus. There will be a comprehensive on-sight analysis and inspection regarding
the collection of data that will be limited to the electrical loads and the distribution
system of the school grounds. The design will be based according to the evaluated results
Definition of Terms
The following were operationally and conceptually defined to serve as a guide to the
Electrical power is the rate at which electrical energy is transferred by an electric circuit.
The SI unit of power is the watt, one joule per second. Standard prefixes apply to watts as
with other SI units: thousands, millions and billions of watts are called kilowatts,
Electrical system consists of all the elements needed to distribute electrical power,
including overhead and underground lines, poles, transformers, and other equipment. The
supply.
Electrical Load is simply any component of a circuit that consumes power or energy. In
a household setting, the most obvious examples of electrical loads include light bulbs and
appliances.

Standing charge is a fixed daily charge you pay in addition to the unit rate regardless of
how much gas or electricity you use to cover the cost of being connected to the energy
network.
Power consumption refers to the electrical energy per unit time supplied to operate
Short-Circuit Calculation is used to determine the magnitude of the short circuit current
which the system is capable of producing and compares the magnitude of the short circuit
magnitude with the interrupting rating of the overcurrent protective devices (OCPD).
